Fernandes has made Ole into a passable manager of a big side, ofc. it can make a difference.

Ole isn't a great manager but he plays his players in their positions, plays to their strengths and doesn't over complicate things. Could you ever see Arteta thumping anyone 6-2 in a European semi?

Couldn't see us under Arteta scoring 6 goals against MK Dons in the Carabao Cup, let alone in a European semi. I miss the days when Carlos Vela would lead the line in the League Cup and we would routinely put 6 goals past crud teams like Sheff Utd.

I mean it wasn’t long ago that United fans were complaining bitterly about how defensive and unambitious Ole is in big games. In smaller games they’re often dire for long periods but then have a unstoppable 10 mins spell.

Bruno and Pogba make all the difference when combined with the pace and movement of the guys up top.

I’ve always said players and how they compliment each other account for about 90% of what you see on the pitch. You will from time to time get a manager so up his own arse that he actively inhibits them, is Arteta that much of an inhibitor? I think that’s harsh personally. That being said, I don’t think his style is ever going to be much fun.

It's not just a matter of style it's a question of attitude and ability to coach attacking patterns, you need those even if you put emphasis on defence. Ole being a joke manager and United fluking cheating and shit housing their way to wins doesn't make any difference in that regard.

I assume Elneny is done given that both Partey and Bissouma are African. An option would be to also dump Xhaka and just go young with the back-ups, and have Willock, AMN, Azeez. But that first two of Partey-Bissouma would be the key.

I don't think Bissouma is the answer. He seems to be a limited player , not good enough in transition for me. He won't solve our passing and possession problems. Would not waste 30m on him

It’s not necessarily about Bissouma attacking. Having Bissouma in midfield allows Partey, the four attackers and two fullbacks more freedom to attack with the knowledge that you have a mobile, hardworking CM in front of your CBS.

One thing to consider is that we would lose both of them for a period next year, AFCON is happening in 2022.

Bissouma is actually a good progressive passer. He’s calm on the ball. Also carries a goal threat

I know. This is why I’ve always preferred one of the young French mids. But if they can get Bissouma, they should take him. We will cross that bridge when we reach it.
