Personally I think good players can work in good systems. Look at Trent, weak defensively yet that right flank isn't remotely a weak point for Liverpool despite having Salah in front of him.
Aside from that though, I'm generally encouraged as if you're going for a full back that's far better going forward than going back, it generally means that you're intending to play largely on the front foot. I'd be willing to bet what we'd gain going forward would far outweigh anything we lost defensively.
