Apparently we are going to hijack West ham's bid to keep Lingard. For 30m of your English pounds. It came from caughtoffise so I'm not even going to post a link. I mean he's done well at the Hammers, and my Fantasy team has benefited for sure, but I'm not at all convinced he is the person to spend limited funds on.

I don't think so. He's not an elite ball winner, which is what we need next to Partey in the double pivot in my mind. He's similar to Partey in that sense, maybe even a little bit more attacking. He'd be a good backup to Partey, but will be too expensive for that in my mind.

What did you think of partey at the base of midfield vs Sheffield? I couldn’t tell if it was a 433 with him at the base or a 334, again with him deep. But he was the guy pulling the strings from deep. At the very least makes sense against garbage teams

He's a centre mid. A pretty complete one too. I'm with Bwooley though, he needs another ball winner with him in our midfield if we going to play the likes of Odegaard, ESR or Saka as the 3rd midfielder.

Man, if Arteta is conservative then I dunno what that is. Partey should be our Fernandinho or Fabinho. He's competent playing as an 8 but he's a world class 6.

He will instantly improve our set pieces though. I honestly think our dead ball delivery has been horrendous for years.

A good set piece taker is undervalued and easily worth 6-8 points per season if some stats are to be believed.

Wenger had Petit and Vieira, then Gilberto and Vieira, was that conservative? You need a solid based to play exciting football. Having the solidity to not need your attackers to play like wing backs, not being so scared of losing the ball, etc
