Ordinarily I'd agree, but I also wonder how much the loss of his mother played a part in what happened in the outcome, both in AFC potentially wanting to keep him close so as to provide close support and assistance, and in possible motivation for ASSE to make their public statement about the loan.

If there's anyone who you couldn't accuse of sticking to a predefined side it would be Quincy 😆

You're not defined as a fan by being for or against your club and its disingenuous to suggest anyone is claiming as much. People should be allowed to view the club's actions critically without being framed as being anti anything on an Arsenal forum ffs

I just think speedy presented a fairly reasonable argument that suggested maybe it was more complex than Edu not knowing how to use a fax machine. It's totally within the realm of possibility that parties other than Arsenal could be apportioned some of the blame for our failure to get Saliba out on loan.

There was a lot of clubs interested in Saliba though. It's hard to think it's all of their fault when we had so much time to arrange a loan.

To be honest, looking at how well Fulham have defended, and their dogged approach, a loan move there for Saliba would have been ideal

And they play out from the back too. But I think the move broke down because they wanted to loan urgently and in the end got other deals over the line first

Okay, that explains a bit.

I hope in the summer, we just have a good sit down with Saliba and clear the air. He has the tools to be a factor for years to come for us.

I just hope that we have the right balance between Edu and Arteta. Edu should say to Arteta “If you want to hire David Luiz as a manager as a defensive coach, then hire him as a coach and pay him like one, but no tweener jobs.” And then Edu should force a path for Saliba and Azeez, and any other premium youngsters.

Will be interesting to see Azeez next year. If we strengthen the midfield with a couple of signings, then in theory, we should be able to ease him in, and see what he has got.

Got to be brave and start players with can replicate the style we want.
