I'd love to get Mikel Merino - think he would be the perfect partner for Partey. Oyarzabal is too far out of reach in my mind.

Did not realise Oryazabal is only 23. Always assumed he was in his late 20's. The fact that he is just 23 and already operating at the level he is, I agree that he is probably out of reach.

La Real is in financial troubles too. They will sell for reasonable fees.

He is. The Pépé project is coming along nicely now. Saka looks good and we have Martinelli and Assist King Willy. So wouldn’t prioritise wingers.

Merino is interesting. Just wonder if balance is right with Partey.

Yeah that was sort of my point. Willian was obviously brought in to be a key figure and first choice winger, that obviously hasn't worked out. So if we brought in someone like that, it would be to take the role that was intended for Willian but one which never materlialised.

That's because he looks like the fifth Beatle and has done so since his breakthrough six years ago. He's been linked to Man City for ages but that has never materialised for some reason. Great player but we have bigger issues, I'd get a new CM, RB, CF and manager before getting another winger.

We really only have Saka who can play out wide to a decent level. Against decent sides the play breaks down on the right flank endlessly. We endlessly play thrugh sakas side. We need another reasonably reliable winger or we'll end up killing saka if we keep flogging him to death. His body isn't even fully developed yet.

If we get to keep Øde we have him, ESR, Pépé and Saka as good starting options for the three positions and Martinelli as a good backup. Imo Nelson as well for backup.

I love ESR as much as the next guy at AMC. But he's not made a big impact on the wings.

Øde for me is another AMC

Martinelli is a good shout, knee injuries are worrying and he had a bad one.

And we now look like we can creaste down the middle.

Pepe the play breaks down time and time again on his side against quality teams. not just in the final 3rd but even in the transitions so end up progressing the ball with saka and KT endlessly. And it gets more and more predictable. It looks dangerous KT whipping those balls in but decent teams can deal with that all day. He has only 2 PL assists since he got here. He's a wonderful crosser but it's not an effective battering ram for us.

Nelson is certaily technically more rounded than pepe in terms of passing ect. but jesus he has a lot to learn. Which is fine he needs a good loan though. He still plays like a teenager doing pointless stuff all the time.

You can find fault with all other options than Saka, yeah, but needing players in a position by itself isn't really interesting. It's about needing to purchase someone in a position compared to how much you need to do it in other positions given your funds that's worth taking a look at. With what you can assume about how much we have to spend, do you want to spend it on a winger? I don't think ESR is an ideal winger, but I think that the players we have in those attacking areas make me want to prioritize other positions more.
