So if Dembele rejected PSG, there was literally no chance he was coming to Arsenal.

Could also be he didn't rate his chances at playing regularly for them. It's hard to tell without any further information.

The biggest stumbling block to get him here is that we would probably have to pay a good deal more for him than we did for Pepé, and at this stage he's a much bigger gamble.

If you're talking about his injuries I agree. If not then it's important to remember that Dembele is two years younger than Pépé.

He definitely wouldn't be a bargain at any rate. A worthwhile gamble possibly, but I don't think we can afford to gamble with >£100 million in our current state. For that fee you have to land a bona fide world class footballer. The bulk reason you go into youth is because it's cheaper. There's an added risk when you take on an undeveloped player, and that's why established ones are conversely much more expensive. With Vinicius you'd buy both at premium price and premium risk, and even if he's a supreme talent there are way too many unknown factors at play. Real and Barca can afford to make those gambles. For us it would be a disaster if it backfired.

I wouldn’t pay more than 50 for Vinicius at this stage. The kid gets lot of playing time. Way more than Ceballos was getting. He looks exciting on the ball. But in the hey decision moments he is often full of errors - running into the man, missing the pass, shooting wide, etc. what he does well is he is confident and constantly getting into good spaces. But the end product is still not evident, which is particularly frustrating when he’s on a team like Madrid when there are many easy options.

He got seven goals and 13 assists as an 18 year old in his first season in Europe, and in almost every game you saw that with improved decision making he could probably double that in short time. Yes he plays for Real Madrid but he was actually one of the few bright spots in their team last season, imagine how much better he'll look with a functioning team around him. He's up there with the biggest talents in world football.

Sancho is more than talented enough, and he's got a super mentality and application too, reminds me of Sterling in that sense. So if those two are going for a similar amount, I'd go for Sancho every single time, he wouldn't be a gamble.

That being said, I think Sancho will be considerably more expensive.

I'd be very surprised if Sancho ended up being a better player than Vinicius.

There's little to suggest that Vinicius' mentality is an issue. Sancho's end product is phenomenal but I'd also have Vinicius ahead of him because of the X factor he brings, couldn't see Sancho come to the Camp Nou and dominate for 90 minutes the way Vinicius did.

Either would be incredible business but there's a much bigger chance of us picking Vinicius up when Madrid get tired of him for some Madrid type reason than Sancho who's most definitely going for a Neymar level fee.
