We should go hard for Lozano. He has that same drive and work rate of Son plus Mane's pace and movement. Great goal scoring record for a winger albeit in the Dutch league. He's the type of player that we miss out on then complain about not going for him when he goes to one of our rivals for a reasonable fee and kills it.

I used to be a huge fan of Lozano's. However, upon watching him a lot this season, I think his lack of an outstanding physical trait will limit his performance here. He's not the fastest, nor is he particularly strong - need one of those in a winger. I'd much rather get Bergwijn from that league or Bailey from Leverkusen (suspect they will be similar in terms of price). Brandt will be a somewhat cut price option.

The premium talents seems to be ring fenced early on and reserved for the biggest clubs, who are more willing to grease agents palms. I saw an article that said pool had paid more in agent fees than either united or city in the last 2-3 years. If we land the next vinicius it would take an amazing stroke of planning and luck

However the next Vinicus is not going to be able to do for us what the likes of VVD / Salah / Mane have done for LFC.
One is still developing as a player whereas the others have already done so and are more looking for the right opportunities to have a significant or lasting impact.

I also think we need to show some humility / reality in regards to where players are singed from in regards to the perception of our quality. None of Mane, VVD, Salah, Firmino were signed from clubs of our 'stature' and neither was LFC at that time, yet I doubt we'd be capable of signing any of them under similar circumstances because we lack both the ambition / game plan, and we place greater importance upon our 'traditional values'.

We can repeat what Liverpool did. You just need three elements to win in this game. City and Pool have both. The clubs chasing 3rd and 4th do not have all three. I believe these are

1) a top tier manager with a clear vision

2) a quality recruiting structure that is able to work the manager to identify the right caliber players that fit the vision, and secure them quickly

3) lots of money to enable the recruitment of super quality players

Spurs have 1 and to some extent 2. Chelsea have 1 and don’t leverage 3. United have only 3.

IMO first and foremost you need the desire / ambition to do what it takes in order to achieve success as a football club. Without this you can have all three but miss the boat.

In some ways we've had all 3 components at different times during AW's tenure, but post DD we lacked the desire / ambition / determination to make it happen as opposed to being prepared to wait for the stars to align, and even then when LCFC won the title we still failed to act accordingly.
Similarly when the FA FFP was announced we failed to act accordingly to use the wage base line to give us more wiggle room to move in regards to the annual 7 % increase allowed re TV revenues.
Then we failed to use our Cash Reserves when the TV deal was announced so as to take advantage in the transfer market before the prices became inflated and the cash reserves were no longer enough to make any meaningful rebuild possible.

The problem now is that nothing has changed - the same 'traditional values' are maintained despite a change in structures.

My point was that under AW we had all 3 going for us and we p*ssed them away repeatedly to the point that #3 is no longer an option.

We spent a decade waiting for the promised land being frugal and relying upon match gate revenues to build the cash reserves to a level that we had more than the rest of the PL bar ManU (and we had double that of ManU). But we failed to adapt our strategies established during the decade long stadium contracts and we thought we could have our cake and eat it too with the icing on top, and now were paying for it.
