Just wondering if we can go cheap / under the radar / free agent types in midfield and attack so as to leave our bigger money signings to sort the defence?
We've been 'linked' to a number of players who are either at smaller clubs, approaching the last year under contract or facing relegation - the likes of Fraser, Trossard, Sarr, Bennacer, Thuram, Pellegrini, Benrahma, Aribo, Fornals, Neres, Bergwijn, Tielemens.
Of late there have been the names of free agents as potential replacements / experienced depth for the forward line such as Balotelli and Sturridge to cover the departure of Welbeck. There are also reports of a potential offer for Falcao - presumably as a short term replacement if Lacazette departs to Barca.
Can / should we look to use players from this pool if available for under 30m, and then leave our bigger value signings to rebuild the defence?
