The Lucas situation is a crime against football.
Klaus, I agree we overplayed Iwobi, particularly in the early part of the season. That was reckless. But like Qs, I do feel it would have been good to play him for a few minutes every couple of games or use him to freshen up the lineup once in a while. Maybe there was a private pact between the two, and Iwobi was comfortable sitting it out. I just think he's a tremendous player who would've befitted us in small doses.
Typical of AW in that he uses the newbie break through players until they drop.
He did the same with Denilson in 08/09 & used him the most of any player that season,
and then next year he was never the same.
And much the same for Lucas as any other player AW feels he was pressed into signing against his will in that he simply doesn't use them.
Yet in Lucas we have a transfer fee that is only bettered by Ozil, Sanchez, Xhaka & Mustafi, and is more than our record fee paid prior to Ozil.
It's not just a crime against football, but it's a bloody waste of 17m FFS.
