Supposedly WHam have put a 30m price tag on him, which would still likely be less than what is asked for Barkley re HG.

Yeah I thought he was playing from CM last season under former management, and it was also creating an issue with Lukaku being isolated.

Barkley is the sort of player who'll always have a good month here and there but he's terribly inconsistent and has shit footballing intelligence along with a first touch that'd make Ramsey blush. Overrated and over priced because he's English. I'm all for getting players from the Premiership where possible but they have to be better than Barkley.

I actually think Barkley is underrated in terms of skills. He's a very gifted player and I don't think he gets enough credit for his natural ability. It's always his physical attributes that get talked up. He's not good enough to start for us but I'd take him if the price was right. He'd contribute with more across a season than most of our bench players.

I think Sigurdsson would be the perfect utility man to pick up this summer though. Bloke's a genius footballer. If we sign him we've got cover sorted for 2-3 attacking positions regardless of formation.

Barkely is very similar to Ox IMO. Similar skillset and similar physically. Not as smart as Ox though, and Ox isn't in anyway exceptionally smart as a player.

Yeah, I'd agree with that. I don't think Chamberlain gets enough credit for his natural ability either though. There was magic in his feet before all the injuries began.

The biggest pro with Barkley is that he's only 23 and has like 150 Premier League games under his belt already. He has both the experience and the youth. I think the right manager could refine his skillset and take him up a level.

Whenever I watch Everton, Barkley stands out for his stupidity in his reading of games. Does the most obvious of throughpasses to get intercepted.

Obviously for Free, can't complain much but I rather have Dembele or Lemar.

That rules out AW then.
Song & Co had similar numbers by the same age - AW once boasted that our players were so much more experienced because they had over 30+ CL games by the time they turned 23 = like Ox currently.

Had this in mind when I asked about Barkley as CM.
Think I'd rather have some bench player for HG and sign genuine 1st team quality who is going to produce.

Run down of 21 or so of the hottest talents under 21. I haven't heard of some of them. I'd really like us to go for an exciting young striker. Don't really care who.

Worst thing about that list is that it features players from Spurs, United, Chelsea and City but not us.

Because all our youth prospects have become middle aged, injury prone, indisciplined and not particularly good (Szczesny, Ramsey, Wilshere) with Bellerin the one prospect remaining (why isn't he on the list? Is he over 21?) and maybe Holding, if one were to be extremely generous (although I wouldn't put him in this bracket). Another legacy of the later Wenger years - youth replaced by middle-aged journeymen like Mertesacker and Welbeck.

Iwobi is good enough to get onto that list. Arsenal players are out of fashion at the moment though.
