The way Pulis is taking hints Evans might leave West Brom...
If we sign Evans Wenger needs to be booed out of the stadium.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3747303/Arsenal-target-Jose-Gimenez-no-nonsense-defender-run-ins-Luis-Suarez-Sergio-Ramos-Arsene-Wenger-needs.html just another crap link, but I do like the sound of this guy.
Then again I know sweet FA about defending.
Superb player in the making, firstly Atletico probably would not let him go unless a silly offer comes in and secondly if the Mustafi fee is a problem this guy will cost much more.
Qwiss! wrote:If we sign Evans Wenger needs to be booed out of the stadium.
Why he's not nearly as bad as Silvestre/Cygan/Squillaci. Not everyone will like it but if the fee is reasonable then he'd be a good 4th choice/experienced defender.
Fonte would be good too however United are rumoured to be interested.

He's a Vermaelen level player.
10 days to go and even the ITKs have been quiet.
Shocking transfer window, even more of a farce than last season.

Maybe the non-injured Vermaelen who got into TotS in his first Premier League season.
looks like no striker coming in, as expected. 5 seasons in a row with giroud as first choice.
and alexis, who hasnt had a real break in years, will be injured by november. this is going to be a great season
I don't think that we have ever felt so disheartened. Wengers last one is gonna be a L O N G one. His reputation is going to be shot to bits by May.
He is a silly ass alright. It is all HIS making. He can't blame the fans for what will inevitably come. He is 'doing a madness' alright.
I completely agree with not paying silly money for average players.

Since we can't produce even 'average' players ourselves, it seems we have little choice.
Claudius wrote:Captain wrote:I completely agree with not paying silly money for average players.

Despite Wengers frugal spending we haven't made profit on the football side in 5 years. I got shot down for saying that before but the Swiss ramble piece confirmed it.
It's a disheartening thought. We have 60-70 million ish from property. No matter who replaces Wenger there still going to have to develop players like Liverpool, spurs, Dortmund. Were bigger than those but were not in the top money league with city Chelsea united PSG real barca and Bayern.
we have a very average squad. Lots of average players. We can afford to sell some of this stock, and replace with a combination of superstars and cheap players. The Joel Campbell deal this week perfectly illustrates our issues. I would keep Campbell, and replace OxCott with a superstar who would first choice. They offer £230k in wages per week that is more than enough to fund a star. We can do this across the club with players like Gibbs, Gabriel, etc.
It's not very average in the slightest. The way some of you carry on is like we have come 10th for the last decade.
We need big, big players on top of what we have to push the envelope.
Pretty much. Just need to look at Man U this year compared to last year; I think it is very fair to say that Man U last year was very, very average, and had a much inferior squad to ours. One Zlatan and one Pogba later and they look sooooo much better, and genuine title contenders. At least initially. A class striker for us on top of what we have and I'd say we have a better squad than them though.

Depends what your comparables are. If you want to compare us to the top 10 clubs in the world, then we have an average team. If you want to compare us to the Burnleys of the world as you have, then it is a superior team. With good coaching we have a good enough team to win the league, but we are not good enough to beat 2 or 3 of the big clubs in the last 4 rounds of the Champions League.
We definitely need to increase our representation of super quality players. Sanchez/Ozil is nowhere near enough. And I am confident that we can raise 40-60m pounds by selling seldom-used players or guys who are too high up in the pecking order for their talent levels
Very average and good enough to win the league don't match up no matter how you dress it. Bottom line is that the squad is good but needs top class additions, hence why we shouldn't be wasting big transfer fees on average players, which was my one and only point.
How would you describe Leicester's squad? They're very close to your average. About the 6th-8th best squad in the league. But they won the league because they were well coached. If we had a semblance of management last season, we would've walked the league. Given how things are in flux for a number of teams, it is possible to win this premier league now with an inadequate squad, as long as you manage it well. This is possible because there are about 10 bad teams in the league, and another 5 or 6 we should feel confident of beating every time if we are well organised and healthy.
The same cannot be said for Europe. Once you get out of the group stage, you face a gauntlet of the best clubs in the world. If your squad is of average quality, you will not win three straight rounds against Juventus, Barca and Bayern. Make sense?
One outlier doesn't make for an argument.
And no, the champs league is absolutely not the measure of a team. You can win that shit by winning one game.
Of course, Capi. This is precisely why semi-final appearances in this competition have been dominated by the three biggest clubs in Europe of late: Bayern, Real and Barca. Let's see Wenger fluke the champions league.

See, the squad isn't "good". You're dead wrong about that. It's so bad, in fact, that there aren't even enough players for the positions on the pitch that Wenger has set the team up to play.
I'd kill for a few so-called "average" players to actually play the positions we need filled.
How weird.
Centreback? Forward? We don't even have the numbers ffs. Counting Sanogo is basically admitting you're full of shit, which Wenger is still doing.
Lacazette for 50m euros would be absolutely fine with me. Mustafi for 30 sounds great too. Go to Atletico with 100m for Griezmann, now that's what I'd do.

Arsenal have turned their attention to Yacine Brahimi after missing out on Riyad Mahrez, according to the Sunday Mirror.
The Algeria international was left out of Porto's Champions League squad in midweek and is keen to leave the club, with Liverpool and Chelsea also interested.
Porto are willing to sell Brahimi for £40 million and Arsene Wenger is considering a move after Mahrez signed a new deal wit Premier League champions Leicester City.
I remember a few posters rating Brahimi highly?
I'd welcome him, at least he'll put Walcott on the bench.
You'd not only welcome him, but you are also sure he'd put Walcott on the bench - based on a hunch a few posters rated him before. Legit.
I'd welcome Brahimi. We don't have a box of tricks in the team.
Guesses for who is the 'madness' or mystery attacker we are looking to bring in..? We know it has to be a forward but no one has a clue if he is a CF or a WF.
I think it could be Draxler. Known target, a style of play that would suit Arsenal and someone who is on record to be wanting a move. Who else?

the trolls on twitter have been hinting its a huge name. draxler is a good talent, but hes not a world class elite player yet. of course they are just winding everyone up, we'll sign mustafi, maybe, and thats it.

I would assume there has to be some level of talks/negotiations with this 'madness'. However we have been linked with no BIG names that is very surprising to me..!
