ARSENAL EYE DRAXLER
Arsenal are on alert after Julian Draxler claimed he wants a move to the Premier League, according to Sky Sports Germany.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been a keen admirer of the Schalke youngster for a long time, who could be available for £30million.

Draxler, 21, has suffered a frustrating season in the Bundesliga, as injury problems have limited him to just 15 league appearances.

If Wenger really rates him, would definitely be a smart time to get him. Think he could be something very special myself. And I think he could be moulded into a centre forward too.

But as i said a few days ago in the Wishlist, i wouldnt mind a young exciting attacking talent to come in with lower expectations than he would have came a few windows ago when we were prepared to pay the premium for him. Would give him a year to adapt, let Shad work on his fitness, get him bulked up a la Mesut and unleash him in 16/17.

Schalke won't get what they wanted for him previously. £20m seems like a fair figure, maybe with a couple of incentives built in to take it to £30m if he excels.

The kid's dynamite. I reckon Wenger would turn into a top centre forward in time - has the raw ingredients to thrive there. Exceptionally talented attacker wherever he plays though.

another project? kid has the goods, but as with Walcott, Wilshere, Ox, Chambers, etc., there is still so much learning required. i want some of that ready-to-wear shit

If we're going for AM types as things stand I'd prefer Fekir or Firmino.
If we want a WF then I'd consider El Shaarawy.
If we want a cheap short term goal scoring option I'd get Tevez.

Agree - we should be looking to focus on the Ox and Wilshere. They're plenty talented, recovering from long term injuries and already here.

I agree we have enough talent in the midfield, but I'm confident Wenger would have centre forward in mind when it comes to Draxler. He could be great there, and there's hardly many great ones currently knocking around.

I've only watched him in the CL and not in the Bundesliga but he's never played centre forward in his career - and he's going to be 22 in a few months. It's a bit late in the day to train him as a lone striker, wouldn't you agree? Plus his goal scoring record is average, even for a midfielder.

I suppose it's a hunch on my part, but I reckon he has goals in him. Lots of them. And he's a smart footballer; knows where to move, we all know about his touch and technique, but he can battle as well, doesn't take shit or back down. If I try and think like Wenger for a second, it's centre forward where I see him.

He's got a lot of attributes that would see him become a top player but it wouldn't happen here I reckon. His best position by far is behind the striker and he's never going to play that here. He'd have to adapt to be a success at LW, let alone up front, and while such a project might have been necessary a couple years ago it shouldn't be these days, especially at 30m.
