It is claimed we have tabled a £13m offer for Juventus' 20 year old centreback, Daniele Rugani. Don't know anything about him, but he'd have to be absolutely exceptional for me to want a 20 year old centreback brought in this summer.

because mertesacker isn't that big of an obstacle (well, hes actually pretty huge, but) to him becoming first choice, though i suppose gabriel will get first crack. then again, if wenger rates him enough to pay that much for him, maybe not.

If we aren't pushing Mertesacker out, it's hard to imagine us signing another central defender unless Wenger is now more sure about Chambers in central midfield.

I like what I have seen of this guy, especially when he is playing for a shit team he have alot of opportunities to shine defensively and he did well.

The Metro report that Arsenal have lodged a bid worth £10.8m bid + £2.1m in bonuses, however, it has since been rejected by Juventus.

But Tuttosport claim that Juventus are willing to sell the 20-year-old defender.

If Arsenal are to continue in their chase for Rugani, they will have to battle with Napoli as they have had a loan bid rejected from their rivals.

Rugani was previously part-owned by Juventus with Empoli, however the Italian giants bought him outright in January.

The youngster has yet to make a senior bow for Juve, but scored five goals in 78 appearances for Empoli.

The transfer window hasn't officially opened as yet and we've been 'linked' to a fistful of Juve players - Llorente, Vidal, Marchisio, Asamoah, Rugani, Berardi.

IIRC last Jan there was talk we were interested in signing their chief transfer negotiator?
