We know Arteta and Edu well enough to be able to filter out a rumour like this quickly. That's the beauty of what they are doing. It means we might miss out on a readily available veteran, but it's a risk I'm fine with.

I've thought McKennie would be a smart buy for a while.

He can play the 8 while offering a goal threat, but he doesn't need the ball like Odegaard, so he won't jeopardize the balance. Also think he provides a comparable defensive duty to Xhaka so we wouldn't be jeopardizing our solidity.

Not sure he's better than Xhaka (in his current form) though. So he'd be offering cover for the 8, an ability to play a 4-2-3-1 (with McKennie and Partey/Xhaka), and maaaaaybe the 6 if desperately needed.

I am really not moved by McKennie. He feels like a guy to get us from 5th to 4th.
In Serie A, let's talk about guys like Bennacer, Locatelli and the elusive Barella.
Up front, let's talk about Leao, Kvaratskhelia, Martinez, Osimhen (although he is the least sensible given Jesus).

Yeah agreed Claude. Haven't been wowed by Mkennie at all. Seems a decent player but nowhere near deserving the hype he got.

Interesting that I don't think he gets that much hype. He certainly gets attention, but I don't see many building him up to be anything more than what he (currently) is.

Agreed there's better players, I think he'd be a solid squad player but not someone to push the team up another level.
