Yeah I think that episode and the one before it are pretty much the best for me too. Although the end of series 4 is pretty amazing too but not quite as well constructed.

Fly is brilliant too though, I don't think I've ever seen a bottle episode done like that before. Its so tense.

Also thanks for the tips on Boardwalk Empire. I watched the first season last week. Thought it was stellar stuff. Great ending to the season. Steve Buscemi and Michael Shannon were outstanding, and I thought the art direction was excellent.

Anyone else just watch Sherlock? Absolutely brilliant conclusion to the series.

Although, the explanation for how Sherlock did it (without wanting to ruin it for anyone), on the face of it, seems pretty clear.

Whatever it was, Molly was in on it too. I really do enjoy how they tie up references to the book, like the suicide note.

Well he lured JM to the roof didn't he. So it follows that he had what was about to happen in mind. Suffice it to say, again because I don't want to ruin it for anyone who reads this and hasn't seen it yet, there was no mention of JM afterwards - so there's only one way it could have gone down (excuse the pun!). Molly just helped him pull that off (as did the cyclist, although unknowingly).

Of course I could be completely wrong.

Possibly, but JM wasn't JM to the rest of the world, he's just some unknown actor. Dunno, seems very inelegant for Sherlock. Still, Sherlock seemed very keen to have Watson standing in a certain place. Convenient?

What I can't figure out is why JM killed himself? Completely random.

Sherlock wouldn't have left it to chance that the cyclist run into Watson, all planned precisely.
JM did what he did because otherwise Sherlock wouldn't have had to do what he did 🙂 (plus he was bananas to boot).

You're definitely right about the cyclist, Y. That was set-up by Sherlock - someone from his homeless army perhaps?

I just watched the last 10 minutes again and it's amazing how obvious what happens is! And it wasn't what I guessed above.

Think it's pretty obvious too. Have to say, I didn't like this season much. A Scandal in Belgravia was the best one of the show so far but The Hounds of Baskerville and The Reichenbach Fall were a bit boring and predictable (to the extent that the format can be predictable anyway).

The best thing about this season has probably been Andrew Scott's increased screen time. Think he did a brilliant Moriarty. Not often people can overact that way and get away with it.

It's sort of based on the Wars of the Roses. York = Stark, Lancaster = Lannister. Basically the writer George Martin read up on European history, then amplified all of its most lurid parts to eleven.

And then added dragons and ice zombies and stuff.

Cheers. Thinking about a few DVD boxsets to buy and I might add that to the list.

Bought myself series 1 of The Wire over the weekend, and am going to watch a bit of it when I get in tonight. Looking forward to it, read so much good about it here.

Season One of The Wire was a high intensity experience for me(a month ago)....So much so, that working my way through Season Two, I had to stop and give myself a break! Will finish Season Two in a couple of weeks...Raw as it gets...Great television viewing...

I was reading a book on Constantinople recently; I reckon he draws a lot of inspiration from Byzantine history in the King's Landing stuff.

Spartacus: Vengeance starts tomorrow. Can't wait. I loved Blood and Sand and Gods of the Arena. It's going to be emotional to see someone else than Andy Whitfield play Spartacus though. Such a tragic story. He really nailed the role too. He'll be dearly missed.

Not sure, but I think we dont get it until the 27th over here. Cant wait.
