One of the most amazing sequences on TV or film I've ever seen. And at the time I was so caught up in the story I completely missed the craft of it.

They will make more seasons. Different actors and story, though. Hopefully he can chalk off two to three dozens hours of life!

Finally bothered to watch Series 3 & 4 of 'Mad Dogs'. My reaction ...

The whole show was absolutely dire apart from Series 1 (which i loved) and a few bits of 2.

Alright, after some glowing reviews in here, I started watching True Detective. Loving it so far. The dialogue is immense. Fine cast as well.

Like this season of Justified a lot. I think Rapaport is doing a fine job. Walton Goggins is the real standout performer though. He steals every scene he's in without even trying.

Yep, last two episodes have been phenomenal. Always liked Rapaport, he's perfect for this sort of role.

Wow, FX are coming out new series that sounds excellent. It's called 'Fargo' and it's based on the film. Cast looks amazing. Main role played by Billy Bob Thornton and he's supported by Martin Freeman, Bob Odenkirk (Saul from Breaking Bad), and some other decent names. Coen brothers are producing.

I dunno. Yet another cops and crime in a small town show.

Also why bother making anything like Fargo if you're not going to have a Frances McDormand in there? She basically made the movie.

The film's a bit like a comic version of No Country For Old Men in that it's about indescribably immoral and nihilistic criminals being pursued by a solidly dulll and moral backwater American cop.

It's just the criminals are sort of hyperverbal, pathetic schmucks a la 90s Tarantino instead of McCarthy's portentous tarot pack types.

This was my first thought too. Career-defining performance. I loved Fargo but it's been 7-8 years since I saw it last. The scene with the woodchipper is hard to forget.

The woodchipper scene never actually got under my skin all that much, oddly enough.

When I rewatched it a few years back, the thing that I'd forgotten was William H Macy's spineless car dealer character, which was another template performance.

Must say the concept of a Fargo series doesn't excite me, but maybe it'll be great. I think it's time for all these US TV producers to try a concept drama that's not set in America.

Yeah, the woodchipper has mostly become an iconic moment. The most unpleasant scene I recall from the film is the one where Stormare shoots the traffic cop in the head as he's leaning into the car. I remember that both the action itself and the visual effect that accompanied it was pretty unsettling.
