Don't know how to feel about this one. He'd be an upgrade, so that's positive, but it's frustrating to think we might finally shell out a big fee on a striker and Daniel Sturridge is the target. Just sounds like more fourth place business.

If he can stay fit he is a proven striker in the league that scores all sort of goals. 30m will be a good buy.

But the "if" means it's a huge gamble.

I'm so worried that Wenger could do something daft. Sturridge is 2nd best striker in the league but his injuries...

Yes, if he comes and he wins us matches, Wenger will work him harder than just about any striker in the league until he does injure himself.

Very tenuous report from a mirror reporter I'm struggling to remember an article from.

That's why I never posted the story myself.

I'd take him in a heartbeat. Absolute class striker.

Fair enough. I reckon we'll be linked with every striker in Europe over summer, they know we can't comfortably stick with Giroud and Welbeck.

Would be a terrible signing. He'd be injured all of the time.

Klopp grudgingly sold all his key players at Dortmund. If for some reason he's not keen on Sturridge then he'l be available.

Give Walcott + 10m for Sturridge.

i like sturridge alot but have frankly zero faith in our squad rotation and injury management policy. pass

This.

AW's strategy re intuitive play requires him to use the same playing 14 until they break.
The only exceptions being his favourite players whom he either plays as soon as they are available after injury,
or as soon as their cover/replacement has a less than impressive game.

Sanchez and Sturridge upfront would be very direct.

Problem is that it would mostly be Sanchez and Walcott/Welbeck/Giroud then, because Sturridge would be injured.
Sturridge is obviously a good player, but it would be ridiculous for a club like Arsenal, with the history of injuries we have, to sign a player like him.

He's only played over 15 league games once since 2011. This isn't a good idea.

The key would be more about how much he contributes when he plays - not just in terms of goals and points, but how important are his goals / assists in terms of the game i.e. does he open the scoring to allow the team to dictate?  Does he score/assist to secure points as much as score winning goals?  Does he score against other contenders or is he a flat track bully?

If he provides value for time played, then the trick is to exploit his strengths and then manage his game time by taking him off and replacing him with competent cover that enables the team to retain the same style or to exploit the opposition needing to chase the game.

It's as simple as that for me.

Given his injury history, he'd probably end up an amputee at Arsenal.

It's still 15 games out of 38. That's not even half.

Also a lot of his injuries are fatigue related, they're recurrences of existing problems that he hasn't ever shaken off. Basically, think Diaby or Wilshere - do you want another one to add to list or not?
