Even if we sign Mahrez, still think we will sign a striker with one or two players leaving.

Excited by this possibility, also if we sign him fuck you Jamie, we got your better teammate, and no need to install an extra shelf in the trophy cabinet.

Sánchez Giroud Mahrez isn't that bad. Definitely want us to cash in on Walcott if this happens.

We still need a striker though - even if we have Giroud supported by Sanchez, Ozil and Mahrez, what happens if Giroud gets injured? Welbeck's out for a season and Walcott is no where near good enough.

We need a striker, but having Mahrez gives us leverage when shopping for a striker.

No doubt. I agree we still need a centre forward to have any hope in the league, but swapping Mahrez in for Walcott would still be a big upgrade.

Let's just lock this down, I'm already dreading finding out it's all bullshit.

Riyad Mahrez's agent has denied there is any interest from Arsenal in player despite reports in France today
Mahrez agent was at Arsenal v Lens last night but says it was bit connected to a transfer or talks

:brow:

Oh, he was just "randomly" doing some other business there, yeah? Allright.

You guys are being played for fools by eurosport.fr

ill believe this when arsenal.com announce it (or the player himself)

Mahrez and no striker or no Mahrez and no striker?

I'll go with the former.

After the Vardy saga I'm not buying into anything yet.

Would be very happy with Mahrez and Icardi though. Which is probably why it's unlikely.

Think you should be more careful tbh. Wouldnt trust it even then, myself.

In real life there are no such choices though.

In real life we're starting with Walcott. No striker, no Mahrez  :egg:

Pay the money and get it done, this is our best chance of a quality signing within Wengers willingness to spend.

If we sign Mahrez it will mean we can play Alexis up front therefore decrease the pressure of us signing a world class striker.

We tried this before and it was garbage, alexis could play in a two but on his own he is lost. Doesn't suit his game which requires space to run at rather than close control play.

It makes no sense anyway. Alexis, Mahrez and Giroud has plenty of goals in it. Pushing Alexis to CF and putting in any other option we have to replace Alexis means less goals overall.

We need to sign Mahrez and another striker.

Mahrez in would be brilliant business, no doubt about it.

This is not credible. There's nothing in it yet.

I would believe this if it was a desperation move on the last day of the window.

Mahrez in the Leicester starting level against Celtic. Cant wait to hear him commit his future to the team by announcing his new lucrative contract.

Not gonna happen. We COULD make it happen, but we won't.

Just scored another special vs Celtic , Wenger's fiddling with Theo and Campbell when he should flog them both and get this guy.

Standard Mahrez goal.

Yes imagine him and Alexis flanking a proper goalscorer.

Alexis ( Striker ) Mahrez

-----------Ozil

----Xhaka---------Ramsey

Best thing about Mahrez apart from his dribbling skill and slipperiness is his vision and intelligence.

Bringing him in and minimizing the minutes of the likes of Theo and Ox can only be a good thing.

The lineup posted by GooneriC even with Giroud at center forward would provide much more creativity and goals for the team

Cmon Wenger. There's one more madness left in you yet.

Oh and I'm infinitely more excited about this than I was about Mr. Vardy

If we aren't getting a big upgrade on Giroud the next best thing is to bring in another goal scoring winger and someone who can rotate with Giroud. That'd solve a lot of our issues.

Hard to imagine us getting a striker on top of Mahrez, particularly given Wenger saying we're looking for another defender as well. But you can try to get a good spell or two from Walcott and a few games from Alexis up top to rotate Giroud. Maybe we'll pick up a cheap prospect.

In any case Özil, Mahrez, Alexis, Wilshere, Chamberlain, and Iwobi for the '3' behind the striker would be pretty strong. I think Mahrez would fit in well here and has a skillset that we don't really have right now.

I think it will. Ranieri's comments after the game today were hardly emphatic

What did he say? I'm dying for any reason to get exited at this stage.

""Did you see how Riyad is happy? He played so well, worked so hard for the team, he scored a goal and he stays with us," Ranieri said. Other teams maybe have more stars and maybe he doesn't play at the same level, because maybe is on the bench so it is much better he stays with me."

Ranieri seems a bit desperate there imo, definitely think there's something in this but I'd be surprised if it were to happen. He very much suits Guardiola. We know from what Pep has said that Sane is their first option but that's looking unlikely at the moment, Mahrez is surely not much further down the list.
