Lacazette is a very good addition. Even if he isn't much better than Giroud, he is worlds ahead of the next option (Welbeck or that sack of wine called Walcott). So I am for the move, given that Wenger is not giving us Higuain or Ibrahimovic

Mahrez was the only ready to go signing that would instantly lift us. Not to be in for him at all while Chelsea get Kante is just a kick in the arse.

None of the rumours are happening. Not the strikers at least, we have not even tried except for Vardy, where we failed miserably.

I think we should read Gazidis words literally and Wenger's grin as a complete troll only. They kept telling us that we are not going to spend ... and we didn't.

It would seem that it is still Walcott and Giround on attack.

This is a tough, tough season. I think we could lose our top 4 this time.

Since we're not going to get the top level of talent (like Higuain), we should try to find a player who will gel with the team the best. No idea if Lacazette is the guy, that's down to Wenger and the scouts to figure out.

All I want is a functional attack. Don't care if we sign Chicharito, and all he does is poach goals and score tap ins - as long as it works.

The combination of Gazidis and Wenger is just wrong.
As much as he sold his shares to Usmanov, David Dein was at least a dreamer. You may not agree with some of his ideas, but they made sense from a purely financial standpoint (including for himself, of course). Wenger and Gazidis are like two lions that sit in the plains watching all the beautiful antelopes go past and thinking 'we'll chew on grass and leftover carcasses because we aren't worthy of the antelope'. We need one lion that will bound around in the grass and say "hey, let's go sink our teeth in that there antelope rump".

Don't worry Dillinger. With Wenger on board our final league position will at minimum always be equal to the following:

Arsenal Final League Position > (Spurs' Final League Position) + (at least 15 other clubs' Final League Positions)

David Dein's overrated in hindsight.

He made a bunch of money for himself at a time when football at a whole was growing like gangbusters and it would've taken an idiot to fail at a club like Arsenal. He also had the bright idea of hiring Wenger and made a couple of key transfers happen.

The idea that Dein was the magic ingredient in Wenger's early successes is horseshit, it was just the historical circumstances. We were the second biggest club in the league back then so we won a few titles.

Dein was a brilliant business man. He bought shares in Arsenal, helped create a situation where they became insanely profitable as one of the chief engineers of the Premier League, and then he sold them to a crooked cunt who was willing to pay way above market for them. He and his horrible son have made hundreds of millions in profit off Arsenal. Hardly out of the goodness of their hearts, I'd say.

Yeah, fair play, he was a visionary in his day. But even so, the money he ended up making was not from his day to day acumen but from the idea of the Premier League itself.

Dein was smart enough but not quite the visionary he's hailed as. He is the one who brought Kroenke in for instance. He also wanted the PL not to share all the TV rights amongst the clubs, who knows where the league and Arsenal would be now if he had managed that. His main 2 big genius moments were hiring Wenger (who he still backs) and spotting the way the PL was moving. The latter made him very rich but it was carrying us along with it one way or another.
