I don't buy that most football players don't enjoy football.

Not only do they enjoy it, I'd be very surprised if they aren't mostly deeply passionate about football. I don't believe you can become a first division player in most any country without that genuine passion and love. I don't really believe you can become top class in any field without that fire. Granted, there are exceptions. Also granted, there are no doubt aspects of the profession of being a pro footballer that are less liked, or even downright disliked, but overall I think most players realize they are very privileged and fortunate to be able to have their passion as their job.

Yeah this is how I feel about it too. The majority of players who make it to Arsenal or to a Leicester side that wins the Premiership are clearly extremely driven individuals who are obsessed with football and winning.

Messi doesn't watch football. You might give up part of your weekend to watch footire but he doesn't.

I've heard top prem players call their career a sacrafice loads of times. I'm sure they enjoy aspects of it but overall the pay is amazying and that makes the task worthwhile rather than enjoyable.

Santi always looks happy on the pitch but that's so rare he really stands out.

Edit: I do know he once gave an interview about his wife not enjoying watching games at home, but not him.

I don't think you can be a football great or a even a serious professional (in any sport) without having a strong passion for the game. Of course there are exceptions like Assou Ekoto, but that's understandable.

I've participated in various sports all my life, including hard track training, but after a hard day's work. I wish someone had come and offered me 200k a year so that I could have trained full time and made some of those sacrifices.

I remember he named some awlful world 11's and Sid Low mentioned messing doesn't watch football he talks about games he's played and and players he's played against. So English player he rated highly were just the ones that played well against barca.

It's not nice to think a lot of players don't enjoy it. But it's not a situation many people can enjoy. They start of loving it and enjoy the competitiveness but as there careers progress the pressure kills the enjoyment.

Similarly I've chatted to foreign player that hate living in England and the same day give sky interviews talking about how well they are fitting in. It's all part of the PR.

I remember Batistuta giving an interview where he had no clue who Beckham was. This was back when Becks was one of the 2-3 most recognisable athletes on the whole planet. When they showed him a picture he realised that he had seen him before, but it was in an ad. He had no idea the bloke was a footballer.

I get where you're coming from. No doubt the 'passion' a player felt for football would be eroded by numerous trials, injuries, the money and sheer boredom of turning your hobby into a career. But I would be surprised if that's how the majority feel.

Granted someone like Messi may not be too interested in watching the German Second Division at the end of the week and obsesses over the newest wonder kid which is reasonable since they've had football on their mind all week. But I find it hard to believe that the best players don't enjoy being out on the pitch and actually playing football themselves.

You don't have to sit at home watching games from every league to love football. I love playing and watching football yet the amount of football I watch outside Arsenal is pretty limited.

That's as ridiculous as when Biggus would say you should go support a team in La Liga or the Bundesliga simply because you actively watch games in those leagues

That's not nearly as ridiculous flobs ffs, ofty has brought this on himself.

If he wants to be part of the football-lover club he better start watching at least four major European leagues. At the end of the season we'll review his application over a test of Clarence' making which includes 40 random top flight players across Europe where ofty will have to recite their position and number without checking transfermarkt.

Been in the works for about a week but Leicester City recently confirmed the signing of that Poland winger Kapustka.

Hope this signing allows Mahrez to move on if he's been pushing for it.
