GoT is decent enough, this episode too IMO. Personally, I don't see the fascination with the Sansa arc; she is the ultimate victim character where things just happen to her without her doing anything to affect anything. She is dragged through the story, and often literally dragged, by someone else who does everything for her. Weak, boring character IMO who hasn't, to my recollection, made one, single decision for herself for over 5 seasons now.

It's all set up for her to go through the classic, Disney trademarked feminist transformation where she'll inexplicably discover her agency/autonomy and become a "strong" character. Totally boring but in line with both Martin's plot lines generally  and the current political gender zeitgeist

I have a feeling that Jon may be coming back in this episode, and we may see the reintroduction of Sandor Clegane

If Martin is changing the Sansa character, then 5 fucking seasons of setting it up as boring and weak is good groundwork. ๐Ÿ™‚ Even in this episode she had to get permission from fucking Mr. Dickless, who killed half her family, to decide whether to employ Brienne!

She'll get her revenge on Ramsey and have her moment in the sun. She and "Dickless" are a team now because Martin/the show depicted them as arrogant and unlikeable at the series' start. Now that they have been humbled and chastened, they can get their redemption

That's a theory.

So is it a spoiler who pushed Balon off the bridge or no?

Spoil away Jens, this is the spoiler thread.

First thought this episode: hey fuck, Max von Sydow.

Same thought as I had in The Force Awakens in fact.

Jons back with a haircut and beard trim, but we don't know if he's 100% fit to play yet.
Girouds new beard look hasn't really worked out for him.

Euron his brother.

they went obvious route with the jon snow resurrection. wonder if it has any impact on the aa/targaryen theory

good episode though. judging by the preview for next week, bran will be having a flashback about teenage ned in some kind of battle. brans arc has me very intrigued

I feel like they're getting the pacing of the show right this season. Each thread is progressing fairly quickly.

Good to have Jon back.

Enjoyed it. Love how all the critics are going on about their disgust at the dog scene. The Sansa assault last season really changed how they cover the show.
One thing I found underwhelming was how easy this week's magic trick was. I had imagined that last week's big reveal was a set up for the magic trick, that the magician would have to give something of herself away.
Finally, Bran is good for something with his flashbacks.

Finished watching it. Good episode for the most part.

The trick with Jon's resurrection will be what he's had to give upโ€”similar to what happened with Beric Dondarrion in the books perhaps?

hopefully its his mercifulness. id like to see thorne and olly get theirs

could the starks be on the comeback trail? daredevil arya, all seeing bran, jesus snow, queen sansa. the roster has potential

also just realised no dany and no dorne = my favourite ep for ages

Yeah, getting a haircut and a beard trim seems like a small price to pay for getting your life back ๐Ÿ˜†

Would be good to see some of the Starks get back together. Hopefully Sansa makes it to The Wall soon and maybe Bran will make his way back down too. I don't know about Arya though.

Yep. I just didn't know if he had been officially introduced on the show.

The way it happened I thought Euron was gonna claim the throne right there, so I was glad when Damphair referenced the kings moot, one of my favourite storylines from the books.

I do fear if they play Osha up against The Crow's Eye they won't find room for Victarion in the story and cut him, which would be a mistake.

My knowledge of the books is getting hazy but Balon was not the last survivor of the War of the Five Kings as he claimed, that had to be Joffrey correct? They have been waiting a long time to pull the trigger on this storyline.

Yeah Balon was offed way earlier in the books.

Glad they got the Jon thing out of the way quickly. I was worried they'd drag that out for much of the season.

Roose getting offed was a bit weak.

Yeah I didn't care much for that. Thought they could have done more with him.
