Mahrez is more like Sanchez than Ozil. He's scored about 14 goals this season along with his dozen assists. An attacking midfield of Ozil, Sanchez and Mahrez would be formidable.

I don't think Mahrez and Özil would work particularly well either, unless you played with two holding midfielders. Mahrez is weak in his defensive work, in my opinion, and he's also a poor athlete and generally weak.

We have two holding midfielders in Coq and El Neny. And if Wenger has some nads, he will bring in Granit. That would be a perfectly balanced team for me. Add in a striker who can run onto through balls, and then I'm confident

Not for me, one weak, unathletic, defensively dodgy genius in the team is enough for me.

And I don't even think Mahrez is that great either.

If you have four defenders and two defensive mids like Xhaka and Neny, why are you so concerned about defensive forwards? Besides, Ozil has been putting In a shift defensively this year. I'm happy with his efforts. He can often be found coming back to cover for fullbacks. The Ozil can't defend story is overplayed.

And Mahrez is player of the year. Can't be that bad.

It's not that Ozil can't defend, it's that he doesn't play like a midfielder. It's like saying Giroud(or Welbeck or whoever is our fuckin striker) can't defend - you can't expect him to.

What we would get from Mahrez is a dribbler who can take on defenders and create space, something like what Di Maria did for Ozil at RM.

Space for whom to exploit though? None of Giroud, Ozil or Sanchez are keen to run into space.

Any new signing that keeps as many of Ramsey, Elneny and Coquelin away from starting games will be welcome, whether that be Kante, Xhaka or both.

It looks to me like Coquelin's already lost his spot, and I think there's a small chance Ramsey will get sold. He's had a poor season and he doesn't seem to care much for the Arsenal fans after the way they've treated him in the past. I could see him going to United or City if they put in a good bid.

It would be very unlike Wenger to start next season with an entirely new central midfield though, but I suppose stranger things have happened.

Because there really isn't that much to Kante, to his credit he's defensively impressive and possesses one of the best engines around but he's not particularly good with the ball that any team looking to play possession based football will play him as a holder and he's not anything special going forward.

In a 3 man midfield he'd be a very good player, like Napoli's Allan or PSG's Matuidi, a shuttling midfielder that offers a bit of everything. Madrid need a player like this to support Kroos & Modric, but we already have Elneny & Ramsey who are of a similar mould.
