'Arshavin's not like the other players- a fucking idiot you mean.'

😆

Good stuff. I seen Alan tweet about this but didn't know what it was.

Anyone listen to 'Footballistically Arsenal' from the producers of 'It's Up For Grabs Now'?

I did, because Matt Lucas was on the latest episode and he's quite amusing, but it was horrible. Never mind that we beat Barcelona, they spent half the podcast discussing Fabregas leaving Arsenal in the summer, how we probably won't win the league and lose comprehensively in the second leg and to top it off they weren't entirely sure how the CL draw for the Q/F works.

Tuesday Club's brilliant though, frequently makes me laugh out loud. Quite impressive at how popular it is given that it's an Arsenal podcast.

I also download 'Arsenal Fans' Forum' podcast with Tom Watt who I quite like. Not as funny or entertaining but there's always a journalist and callers making some half decent points. Helps pass the time while travelling anyway.

Ah a Biggus perspective then......😃

Listened to latest Tuesday Club podcast, haven't listened for a long while now. I think the 3 of them were going way over the top about Barcelona, sounded like ITV. A little embarrassing I thought. And that "T" is rather annoying. I can't believe he got angry because a few blokes at the game blacked themselves up and wore a blonde wig/beard in tribute to Alex Song. Am I missing something? In what way is that offensive?

Keith's a funny guy though, and from Walthamstow, bet I know him or know someone he knows.

Black people of a certain age find that sort of thing exceedingly offensive.

😆 Weren't there plans to launch an Arsenal-Mania podcast? You should put yourself forward!

I was probably being too harsh on them and Matt Lucas did name drop some Arsenal players which was interesting.

30+ just about covers it. I'm sure some people younger than that also find it offensive but a smaller percentage perhaps.

Why though? In that context, I just don't get it.

I'm not interested in having a discussion about this but over a period of time, context has no meaning.

White people impersonating black people has a history Ricky.

The intention here may be harmless but it reminds black people that back in the day it was supposed to take the piss. It's understandable why many black people don't like it because you are never sure what the intention is. Whatever you think about blacking up, there is no doubt that people still do it in racist ways no matter which way you try to spin it. Off the top of my head Fernando Alonso's fans a couple of years ago blacked up at a Grand Prix and wrote on their T-shirts, 'Hamilton's family'. That is disgusting.

Spot on Tony - there's no way for it to be "just a joke" because no one can tell if the person running the blackface gag is just a naive prat, or is actually blowing a dog whistle for all the racists out there.

Hmmm, each to their own I guess. I just think in this instance, it's a bit of fun, not meant to hurt anyone.

Do you think it would have been any less obvious and fun if they had just elected to wear a curly blonde wig and stuck on blonde beard (cheers)?

You mean "beard" right mate?

I had considered that when T on the podcast was moaning about it, but I think without the blacking up part it would not have been obvious.
