Palace are situated in London and have more money than 90% of all top flight clubs in Europe, probably even discounting the Bolasie money. Benteke being a known entity is a plus but not a 30m plus in my opinion. Leicester as the obvious example won the title using players from Europe acquired with spare change, their biggest signings in Inler and Kramaric were actually failures. You don't even need expensive scouting networks to be successful in England where people do their scouting on FIFA career mode, just follow a few games a week on shitty 240p streams while you're in the office and you're already ahead of the game.
You're still somewhat right Daz as there's no reason to expect Palace to be any better than the rest of the league who're brainlessly burning through their money by the pound but at the same time it doesn't mean one shouldn't be able to expect it from highly paid supposed professionals
