It's a bit like if Fabregas had gone straight from us to Chelsea.

Bayern are the real villains though, it devalues the Bundesliga to have them constantly and very calculatedly soaking up the available talent.

That's the thing, say what you want about Fabregas but the guy was top class for us during his time here. We were going nowhere and he had the best club in the world chasing after him. We all admire Henry & Bergkamp for their loyalty but would they have stayed around if we had been competing for 4th place every season? RvP on the other hand was a complete piece of shit, year after year of injuries we stuck by him and kept giving him chances. As soon as he can stay fit he can't get out quick enough. Even before that season was over he had been holding meetings with clubs and had a move already sorted. He was just trying to save face with his stupid public letter. Sad thing is if we had kept him we would have won a title by now imo. Guy was top class, should have made him see his contract out. If we had done well that season he might have even stayed with us. Instead we showed the only thing that matters to us is money, look at Bayern forcing their players to see their contract out if needs be. The club and manager lost a lot of face selling him to Man Utd, I remember when we stood up to them and told them to fuck off when they came for Vieira. Showed the club wouldn't take this shit lightly, instead we have become something else. Fergie would have resigned and walked out before he would let us take their best player in that manner. You need to show some strength and courage in situations like that, we not longer have any of that.

It should be noted but as a club we decided Top 4 finish was our only goal. Footballers don't have long shelf lives so you can't expect them to hang around. We wouldn't think twice of getting rid when a player is past it so you can't expect blind loyalty from them either.

To be fair they make most clubs look like amateurs when it comes to transfer dealings.

Leaving a club that is underachieving is understandable. Going on strike to break your contract, writing snide public statements to make a stay untenable, etc is unprofessional and downright cunty. Both Fabregas and van Persie are complete and utter cunts and deserve no respect or thanks from us.

Players don't get what they deserve from the fans though, they get what they get given. Speaking for myself even now he plays for Chelsea I've got more time for Cesc than I will ever have for Van Persie.

I can't really bring myself to hate Cesc either tbh. First of all, in comparison with Persie, he actually played a whole heap of games for us. On top of that, in many of the dark seasons he was the one who more than anyone else brought me joy out of Arsenal. I'll always remember that. Doesn't mean I appreciate how he left, and it still makes me angry that Wenger agreed to sell him with 4 years on his contract. A firm stance there from Wenger and it is my belief that Fabregas wouldn't have refused to play. Poor form by Cesc, for sure, but the club clearly must have indicated to him that we were willing to negotiate a deal.

I would've done exactly the same as Cesc. Why play for Wenger and his lies? I really have no problem with Fabregas. And hearing him on Monday night football two weeks ago reminds you that Arsenal has a special place in his heart. He wasn't provoking and insulting Spurs players last week because of some Chelsea-Spurs feud. He had said that as an Arsenal man, he didn't want Spurs to succeed. I don't think that period of his life was easy. A young man courted by the best players in the world while your own manager, devoid of inspiration, hides in a sleeping bag that doubles as a winter coat.

Van Persie, on the other hand, can eat one.

Fabregas actually had Barcelona DNA and had a lifelong dream of playing for them (though they themselves didn't really give a fuck about him as it turned out). We enforced his contract and made promises that I suspect we broke the summer previous to his departure. Compare that to Van Persie, who made up that crap about the little boy inside him, who was a perma-crock right up until he used one season of top form to fuck off. He then publicly staged his wantaway status and went without any compunctions straight to our bitterest rivals in the same league, where he sang their club songs at karaoke, and then won them the title.

It's a question of degrees in the end, but one's by degrees much more of a motherfucker than the other.

I still don't like the guy but you're not wrong either. With absolute shite around him at times he dragged us into Top 4 finishes, the guy gave loads to this club. You can't knock the guy for leaving a team who wasn't even the best team in London for the best team in the world. The way he did it was poor but as a club we made a chance of cementing Top 4 finish rather than pushing on.

United/Chelsea all the one to me. van Persie is a total cunt but everything he is guilty of Cesc is equally as guilty of. Wearing a Barca jersey, kissing the Chelsea badge, playing for Mourinho, striking, etc its all the one.

Equal pieces of shit IMO. 2 of the worst we have had. The only real difference is van Persie was injured more for us.
