You're right, it sounds funny 😆

Don't rate him at all. He's a horrible defender and his technique is stunningly bad at best, I've seen him fumble dozens of easy balls over the years. To be fair he's probably half as bad as I might think but he's probably the least graceful person when moving on earth, always looks so incredibly awkward running it's beyond ridiculous.

You are right. He's been solid enough for them over the years, probably should have moved at some stage but Newcastle manage to create loyalty with players when you wouldn't expect it.

Very good deal for Southampton, even if his contract was presumably running out. Haven't seen him in the Championship but in the EPL he's been a very solid striker, rate him higher than that overrated fraud Kane for example

He's injury prone as fuck but he's a very good player. I read an article a few months ago which suggested that his knees are permanenty shot though. Supposedly it's why no one took a chance on him in Premier League. Bloke has no ligaments left.

He has a better shot but no way is he a better striker.

I don't rate Kane too highly. He's well rounded but has no special ability whatsoever, I'd rather have Austin or Vardy who are hard workers and not ball hogging assholes like the passport forger

Agree re Austin having a seriously good shot, generates a deceptive amount of power with little to no backlift at all. Shame about his knees, knew he had some problems there but not the extent of the injury.

Jones, Kane is prob on par with Giroud if not better.

Mario Gomez also scored a lot. Bayern sold him, bought Mandzukic and became a much better team.

Either you're saying he's as good as Agüero or you're refuting your own and proving my argument, showcasing how stats can mean little in certain contexts. He's not a bad player by any means but he is seriously overrated, plus like Quincy alludes to with the Gomez/Mandzukic comparison he's the kind of player whose performance goes to the detriment of the team.

Kane integrates very well with his team mates though, which is exactly what Gomes never did. Kane is, unfortunately, a very good player.

I'd say they are very much on par this season, and that is a big compliment for Giroud given how good Kane has been performing this 2 seasons.

That's doubly wrong. Gomez never had issues integrating with his team, he knew perfectly which channels to work and where to run to score loads of goals. Kane is similar in that aspect and that he's also pretty useless if he's not scoring, he also takes way too many shots from all over the pitch.

Not judging his character but going by his behaviour on the pitch Kane seems 100% like the kind of player who'd rather lose 4-3 with a hat trick than get a draw without scoring.

I think It is a bit too soon for that comparison. Kane had his breakout season last season, and he undoubtedly was better than Giroud then, but Giroud is having a better season than Kane this season so far. However, Kane had to deal with not being an unknown quantity going into this season, and he struggled quite a lot initially. Seems to have adapted well in the last month and a half though, and I think we need to come closer to the end of this season to make a fair comparison. However, I personally think Kane has more in his locker than Giroud.

Don't think it's even a discussion; Giroud scores more goals, has a better goal-per-minutes ratio, performs better in a tougher European cup, is a better link player and starts for a better national team.
