Bit disappointed she settled the claim with the club on confidential terms but it's understandable she doesn't want to prolong this affair any more than necessary. She rejected Chelsea's first offer and accepted the second one only after yesterday's hearings which means at least she pried an unreasonable amount of money from their hands.

Was just comparing honors for the last 20 years, and I was very very shocked with what I found:
Arsenal: 2 time league champions, 6 time FA cup champions
Chelsea: 5 time league champions, 5 time FA cup champions, 3 time league cup champions, 2 time Europa league champions, 1 time CL champions

20 years is a long time, and thats quite a bit of history. Anyone have an argument for why they aren't a bigger club than us now? would be interested to hear

Chelsea was the start of the end for us. Man City then came and kicked us further down and Liverpool and Spurs have just added insult to injury. We have a long long way to go, if we are to every return to our glory days.

So you folks are applying a wider(or total) time scope when comparing status. Which is valid, as our history still seems relatively embedded in global football culture. As you say Claude, we do have a larger following as part. I guess I subjectively tried to compare within a +/- 20 year window, which is about a generation but because that coincides with Abramovich (2003) its does become a bit of a fallacy. Within that time their annual turnover, commercial revenue, trophy success, league standings have all become steadily better than ours.

They're not a bigger club than us though. To claim they are is silly. They're not even as big as Spurs. Next you'll be telling me City are the biggest club in the north of England. Or that Liverpool aren't a big club because they didn't win a title for 30 years.

It's not just the time scope. History's a part of it but the actual size of the club and the support factors in too like Qwiss says. There are many clubs that are either richer than us or more successful in arbitrary time spans: consider Leicester for instance. They've done an amazing job over the last 4-5 years and would probably be frontrunners for the league again if Klopp hadn't transformed Liverpool into maybe the best side in the world at the moment.

There is a valid question do we risk becoming irrelevant. When you step away from it all and look at the bigger picture, we are still far and away the most successful club in London with the. Invest support. We are just going through a difficult moment right now.

What would be problematic is if we throw it away like Leeds or other stories clubs. It’s possible. But finishing an average of 2 or 3 places behind these teams for a few years when we have such a massive lead on league and FA trophies that will take them at least a decade to catch up on (for Chelsea at least), to me feels like we are still the larger entity. Don’t fall into the trap that football was founded with the Premier League. There is a rich history before that built by clubs like Arsenal and Pool while nobody cared about Chelsea and Spurs
