I think AVB never got a fair chance here.

Chelsea obviously recruited their own players and then player politics came in when the likes of Terry started revolting from the bench.

At Spurs he got them their highest ever points total. Again Spurs got Baldini who then recruited his own player of the back of the Bale sale.

They sacked him when he was trying to fit in 6-7 signings and while he was still getting decent results.

The only thing that happened was some high profile thrashings but we suffered exactly the same that season. The 2 notable ones were against Liverpool for them but they had Suarez who we've seen does it against pretty much everyone now.

One way of seeing it I suppose. I mainly remember him insisting on playing a ludicrously high defensive line with players who were totally unsuited for that both at Chelsea and Spurs. Doesn't seem like a dude who knows how to best utilize the squad at his disposal.

Now that one comes as a genuine surprise. He did good work at Ingolstadt and there's obviously the insane run RB are on at the moment, he has them playing great football with a seriously young team but even if I don't think we necessarily need a huge name as Wenger's successor he might be a bit too low profile

I just looked up the interview, rough translation:

Q: Do you confirm or deny The Sun's claim you've been in talks with Arsenal?
A: I've seen the article, it was well researched and a lot of it was true. There are many fates a lot worse than being touted as the successor of England's longest-serving manager, it's not exactly bad for my reputation.
I feel flattered but there's no need to think too much about it, I'm happy in Leipzig

Not exactly concrete but if his somewhat ambiguous answers really mean that the club is actively looking for a successor that'd be big news

While i admire what he has done for the small teams he's been with, i'd expect someone much more experienced at the top level.

I'm the opposite; I don't want some old nomad manager who comes with a huge reputation, stays for 2-3 years and then leaves us in a potentially bad state because the need for a cup or two to bolster his resumé was more important than the longterm health of the club. Those guys are for the Citys and Chelseas of this world.

Tuchel would be my man since we can't get Klopp now, but Hasenhüttl sounds interesting.

Would love to have him here - he seems to have held his level over many years now, even if only in Serie A. I remember him taking a relatively weak Milan side to the title 5-6 years ago. Has strong CL experience as well. Only reservation is the general one around Italian managers in England, but I guess Conte is doing well enough, even if on a small sample size. Most other top managers seem to have a short shelf life.

True but Ancelloti and Raneri have won titles over here.

Allegro is very good tactically, prob one of the most underrated coaches in Europe in this aspect.
