That is how I feel as well, he can't play any of the midfield roles in 4-2-3-1 but he can in 4-3-3.

For starters, Wilshere is already better at that. I would say Rosicky is more consistent at that as well but he is never fit so that's pointless.

Sounds to me like Wenger is trying hard to push a square peg into a round hole. The number one responsibility for a midfielder is ball retention and distribution in my opinion, unless Chamberlain explodes in a manner like Douglas Costa did this season (i.e. very unlikely) he'll never be good enough to play that role for us.

I reckon that's the exact reason why he's been shit for so long ofty, he doesn't need to score goals and get assists, he needs to concentrate on playing his position and as a result the goals will come. His worst performances for us were in mid 2015 when he was putting himself above the team, hanging around the halfway line waiting for the ball to fall to him so he could counter first and score goals.

That's kind of what I mean though, he needs a couple of goals and assists so he stops obsessing over it and focus' on helping the team.

I would agree that he was a bit of a scapegoat in some of the yesterday's comments under the circumstances as not many would change the tempo of the game of that intensity but what amazes me is that he looks sometimes technically perfect only to struggle to get a ball under his feet and run with it which makes him look like a sunday league player. He has this inconsistency of 19 year old he shouldn't have.

Even the lost ball he was criticized for, he didn't even have to pass the ball, just put it out wide around the slowest player on te pitch and run, seems like a simple thing, simple things he seems to struggle getting right. The bad thing is that time is running for him and his Euro chances as it will only take two of Sanchez, Rosicky, Cazorla, Welbeck and Wislhere to come back for Ox to stop getting games even off the bench, he has had his opportunities regularly now and hasn't impressed much. The good thing is that he is an England international with still a huge amount of potential who is very hard to get rid of; a bit like Wilshere in that aspect.

His technique will improve with time, even Theo was pretty inconsistent but at least he can control the ball nowadays (other than yesterday).

His poor vision and decision making is a cause for worry though.

Wenger rated Sanogo above Afobe so he isn't prescient on which players are going to so well in which position. Any talk of Ox through the middle is a bit of a joke for me. He has a terrible touch, can't pick a pass and needs to sort out his thought process when he is doing anything other than running with the ball at pace.

He can become a better player, but will he ever be a top top player? I can't see it with his general lack of technique and passing ability.

Lack of technique? Not something I think you accuse Ox of. Lack of footballing intelligence though...

His first touch is wildly inconsistent, I think relatively speaking "lack of technique" is apt. Not just Özil or Cazorla, he's also below Monreal or Bellerin in that aspect.

I can stand his first touch, but can't stand his slack passing. It's not that he don't have the ability to, he is just too casual.
