I think Burnsy's right though, the sci-fi resurgence has been going on for a while now. Westworld is a symptom rather than a cause in my opinion.
After Battlestar Galactica ended you were hard pressed to find a single sci-fi show. Now you've got Westworld on HBO, who are also launching a big-budget adaptation of Altered Carbon next year. The rebranded SyFy channel is running The Expanse, The Killjoys and the excellent bagatelle Dark Matter, and Star Trek is getting a new show which has just been delayed for another 6 months because CBS keep increasing the budget and thus the scope. You've had big Hollywood films like Interstellar and The Martian in the last 2-3 years too. Last time this happened was probably during the TNG era.
