Gazza M yeah, love it. Glad the last series corrected a bit of an issue with Martin Freeman's character in the series before when he had just become ridiculously monstrous.

Sicario2 yeah it was an easy watch. Beckham's simultaneously underrated and overrated as a footballer.

Whoa, just read that Matthew Perry died today...

Not sure why, but that's just surreal to me; that one of the main characters of Friends is dead. I know most people say it hasn't aged well, but I loved that show. One of the only shows with laugh track that I could enjoy after most shows stopped doing them, and Chandler was probably my favorite character.

MistaT Mad Men while great isn’t worthy of #1 either.

Maybe not top spot, but out of the golden age of prestige drama it's one of the productions that really stands up. The writing, cast and concept are generally excellent. I was surprised by how rewatchable I found it.

QuincyAbeyie finally started watching this this week. Am so impressed with how the show still feels like Justified despite only Tim Olyphant returning as Raylan. Two episodes in and have loved every second so far.

RocktheCasbah I watched about three episodes and I'm not sure I'll watch any more. I think it's complete trash. All of the characters suck, the pace is non-existent, the plot is dull. Stark contrast to the original series.

On the other hand, I absolutely loved the Japanese Netflix series Sanctuary. Anyone interested in Japan, their culture and/or (Sumo) wrestling I would definitely recommend.

Been steamrollering our way through The Bear. I can't think of too many shows I've watched recently (ever?) which have such a collection of characters you're just rooting for. Just over halfway into season 2 now and the cameos the show has rolled out is so incredibly choice. Love it.

Attack on Titan ended last night. Insane that it's been over 10 years since it first premiered. I enjoyed the ending, kept waiting for the reason why manga readers hated it so much. Now that I've watched, I honestly think (also spoilers for The Boys, I guess)
this is another case of "The Boys" syndrome where there are so many alt-right watchers out there who believe(d) Homelander/Eren to be the hero of the story, so they get mad when they've totally misunderstood an anti-war story and can't stand that Eren's plan leads to a vicious circle of more fascism and violence. Eren has never once been presented as a genius, so I don't see why it's a character break that he was simply a fucked up kid who got way too much power.

The finale Attack on Titan deserved. Incredible the amount of twists and turns to get here. Landed better than GoT anyway.

MistaT — two episodes into Shogun and I’m very impressed.

Pacing has been excellent, and they’ve focused the series nicely on three main characters by affording them enough screen time.

Also have to commend the scenery they’ve effortlessly (or so it seems) weaved into the show. Lots of shots in nature or in stunning Japanese architecture.

Only knock so far is the intro credits are clearly modeled after Game of Thrones’ “house” intro. There’s enough visual elememts to the show that they easily could have done something more unique.

Highly recommend for anyone!

In need of a new show to binge. I've managed to never see Luther up to now and see it's only 20 episodes plus a movie, so just watched the first episode. I assume it's worth sticking with?

I'm in the same position. Seems to be a dearth of interesting new shows on the services I have. Probably going to be even worse in coming months due to the strikes etc.

invisibleman18 Errrrr, I think Luther is very much diminishing returns and, speaking as a Londoner, presents a vision of the city as a hellscape full of homicidal maniacs I don't really recognise. The first couple of series are very good, but I ended up losing patience with it as it became more and more ridiculous - and more and more of the generally excellent supporting cast got written out.

I'm exactly the same but for series. Think i have over 80 shows on my trakt watchlist that im yet to start dating back to the early 2000s. Just never have time to catch up on the backload.

I usually watch TV as I'm getting ready for bed, so a series suits me as I can watch an episode and go bed, or if I'm tired then an episode of a shorter sitcom or something similar that lasts 20-30mins.

With films, honestly, I"m just out of the loop. I don't watch live tv generally so don't see adverts for new films. As a result I never know what new films there are or which are any good. Can you believe I only just started binging the MCU films last year and just about managed to get to the last Avengers film. Worse still I'm yet to finish the Dark Knight trilogy haha.

I have never loved all that stuff but I think that, with notable exceptions, many of the new superhero films are making the old ones look like masterpieces. The MCU is an impressive body of work overall, I've gotta admit it's hard to achieve what Feige and company have, I have grave doubts they will be able to repeat it themselves.

I suspect film has a pretty different role for a lot of us than television, but I haven't had time for a new television show in about a year, it feels like.
