The first couple of series are very good, but I ended up losing patience with it as it became more and more ridiculous - and more and more of the generally excellent supporting cast got written out.

I very rarely watch movies, although pretty much every time I do I enjoy them more than when watching TV. There's something about irrationally different about committing to a two-hour movie compared binging TV for three hours.

Definitely looking like this so far. I watched season 1 episode 3 yesterday and that was one of the more sickening crimes I've seen on one of these kind of shows. Expecting the criminals to keep getting worse if this is the early precedent.

Big Willie Can you believe I only just started binging the MCU films last year and just about managed to get to the last Avengers film. Worse still I'm yet to finish the Dark Knight trilogy haha.

I have never loved all that stuff but I think that, with notable exceptions, many of the new superhero films are making the old ones look like masterpieces. The MCU is an impressive body of work overall, I've gotta admit it's hard to achieve what Feige and company have, I have grave doubts they will be able to repeat it themselves.

I suspect film has a pretty different role for a lot of us than television, but I haven't had time for a new television show in about a year, it feels like.

I find watching something new takes more mental energy than something you're already familiar with. So with a movie unless its a sequel its all new info and takes a bit more attention than just sticking on a show you're already familiar with. There's also the time commitment, especially with so many films being 2 and half hours long or more these days.

Been trying to catch up on some TV.

Sousou no Frieren - the best thing airing right now out of what I'm watching. The animation, the music, the artstyle, the mix between a slow-paced story and action-filled spectacle, it just hits all the right notes.

Ahsoka - very far from Andor, nothing more than decent entertainment. Still better than The Mandalorian season 3, which I gave up on halfway through.

Gen V - not quite The Boys. Lacking the charismatic characters in my opinion, but the last two episodes hooked me.

Currently also watching The Bear season 2, Righteous Gemstones season 3, Pluto and The Fall of the House of Usher. The Curse looks good as well.

banduan Loads of Netflix anime recently. So many to try out, but fully expecting none to compare even a little to Attack on Titan.

Pluto, Blue Eye Samurai and Scott Pilgrim Takes Off seem to be the ones that stick out.

The Bear and Righteous Gemstones are 2 of the best shows of the last decade IMO.

As for Gen V I liked it, I think scaling down the boys universe worked well but I agree it lacked a standout character like Homelander but I think it's hard to match that. Probably a little less comedic than The Boys although it had it's moments, crickets first sex for instance cracked me up.

I defy anyone, even some of the curmudgeons on here, not to be just a little choked up by the last episode of this season of Welcome to Wrexham, notwithstanding that everyone knows the result.

Actually, no, plenty of curmudgeons on here won't be moved at all, but still, I enjoyed it.

Maybe lots. Maybe nothing, maybe it's just not for you...

Jo and I have just blitzed the two seasons, so I can't really remember where it's at after 4 episodes, but for me it's the relationships between everyone - particularly Sid & Carmy and Carmy & Richie which give the show its heart. Personally, I'm just enjoying watching a show with relatable, likeable characters. It's like an anti Succession in that regard I guess!

RocktheCasbah not sure about how likeable I think the characters are, but it's great nonetheless. I just finished the Christmas dinner episode in season 2 and then the following episode where Richie is interning at a fancy restaurant. Those two totally different episodes encapsulate why the show is so great. The first is mainly about people who aren't even in the main casts and makes you feel like you're watching a Safdie brothers movie such as Uncut Gems where your senses are being assaulted for an hour and you can't breathe, while the other one has a completely different vibe altogether, making you root for a character you're bound to hate at other times. I don't think I'd be able to watch it if it was only the former.

Season 4 of Fargo definitely the weakest despite a pretty strong cast. Not really sure what they were going for, doesn’t feel like enough thought went into it. Still a couple of episodes to go though.

Still enjoying though. Looking forward to Season 5.

goon Currently trying to blast through seasons 3&4 of Atlanta and the 5th season of What We Do in the Shadows before our free Disney trial ends on Friday, but I'm looking forward to this season of Fargo also.

Loved the first season, thought the second was even better, enjoyed Carrie Coon in the third but wasn't sure it 100% worked and - despite quite the cast in the 4th season - I didn't get very far into it.

Castlevania: Nocturne was utter rubbish and I gave up by episode 4. Another one of those failures that'll get blamed on being woke but actually let down by poor writing and awful voice acting. Not a shade on the previous Castlevania.
