Finding plenty to enjoy in True Detective Season 2 so far … what I am noticing though is there are some seriously weak moments in the dialogue. Plus that dive bar Velcoro visits is so implausible it's a problem.

Edit: I've worked out why those bar scenes suck so much—it's because of the lack of natural light.

Well into season 6 of SoA now and I must say, I still think it's pretty decent. I don't know if it's because I'm watching it without any breaks so all the seasons kind of blend into each other.

Didn't it bother you how they completely flubbed the end of whatever season it is when Galindo cartel turn out to be being run by the CIA?

Yeah that was a bit shit, end of season 4 I think. Have pretended that it didn't happen. Just like the segment in N.Ireland with the shit accents/acting.

Still, I think it's right that we're allowed to see Jax fulfil his destiny, the first few seasons built up to it, would have felt premature otherwise.

I think it really ideally would've been four or five seasons long instead of seven. Problem with so many of these shows.

I think the bigger problem was letting Sutter do whatever the hell he wanted, especially giving him those crazy run times. That killed it more than anything for me. What I always liked about SOA was how it zipped along and even if there was no major action in the main storyline that week they'd throw in some random gang stuff to provide it. Then in the final season its all sad looks and horrible montages over Katey Sagal singing some dull country song.

Just went through Falling Skies. Not great, but I still watched the whole season. 🙂

The final season was a terrible waste really. Not every show gets given the chance at narrative closure, they gave that to Sutter and he wasted it on concluding character arcs so cheesy just watching was like being the croutons in a maxi-sized fondue.

Been making use of Sky's box sets to catch up with Veep, which I love and Fortitude which Jo loves and I like though-5 episodes in- it is starting to grip.

Also been watching Aquarius, but- honestly- if it wasn't for David Duchovny, I'd probably have stopped watching. Charlie Manson is about as scary as E.T. minus all that little alien's charisma.

Also looking forward to watching Show Me A Hero and the new series of Fargo, as well as This Is England '90.
