Finished True Detective. Final evaluation is: very disappointing.
cba to go in depth, but in short too many scenes spent on meaningless philosophizing and too little on establishing the secondary characters who were vast in numbers and seemingly very important, but ultimately very underdeveloped. Had very little idea who people were at times when names were being mentioned, and I put that down to the writing, as other shows like Boardwalk Empire were capable of pulling of huge casts without things seeming too convoluted.
