I watched the first episode of Arcane and it didn't grab me. Does it get better?

I'd say so, it's really well done and certainly doesn't drag given the time jumps.

It does feel a bit like a prelude though.

Arcane is a masterpiece of animation and the earlier episodes are improved by the latter

It ticks so many boxes in terms of technique but you miss them for the narrative and action sequences.

Only two episodes in but I think The Foundation is great or at least has a lot of promise. The boyfriend is terrible though.

I still can’t work out if Lee Pace is a good or bad actor, I did warm to him towards the end of Halt and Catch Fire but imagine being type cast as a superior smug bastard.

Finished Foundation. I can see why it's not for everyone, it's a bit up itself at times, some of the acting is dodgy and it's a little convoluted. Personally I think those are just flaws you get in every large scale sci-fi, but for me it holds everything together. Hopefully Apple lets it run through to it's conclusion.

Season 3 of Succession was great, some real top notch acting across the board, the relationships are great too. Nicely teed up for season 4 I think, hopefully with a view to giving it a good finish. Without being crass, Cox isn't getting any younger.

[spoiler]Ken's journey across the series is reminiscent of that old Liverpool boom bust cycle from a few years ago before they become good. His crash this season was hilarious. [/spoiler]

dopesick is an excellent show that I haven't seen many people mention. the US opioid crisis has always been one of those issues I've done no reading, and this show does a really good job of shining a light on the subject in an entertaining way. great cast too

Been a long while since I played it, but I felt like the WITCHER 3 game gave a more profound sense of life during genocidal war than the show does. Possibly because the experience is more suited to the incoherent quality of an open world game.

It's decent entertainment and certainly better than in season 1. Probably helped that the quite inexperienced Ciri actress was more than two years older at the time of filming, got more to do plot-wise and no timeline bullshit.

Still find it hilarious that in the first episode of season 1 there was a brilliant sword fight that I thought was meant to showcase what kind of show this would be and there hasn't been anything close to that quality in any episode since.

Cobra Kai season 4 was a nice binge. Getting tired of the teenage drama that occupied especially the middle of the season, but the start and the finish were both strong. Spoiler for episode 3:

[spoiler]Terry Silver is great. The way they explained his weird acting in Karate Kid 3 as him being coked up at the time was brilliant 😆[/spoiler]

That's one of the things I love about Cobra Kai, how self aware it is about it's ludicrousness. It's terrible in all the right ways.

[spoiler]Also found it ludicrous how Silver started out as the reasonable not that bad good guy and Kreese is Kreese but by the end of the season it inexplicably flips for no logical reason.

The you have the high stakes winner takes all tourny that nobody ever really intended to stick to - the writers are shameless[/spoiler]

Also if there's one thing I've learned from Cobra Kai is that apologising to someone is a sure fire way to make sure you get a verbal or physical beatdown.

Just watched the final season of Friday Night Dinner. Great little show, one of the funniest going around. Plus Tom Rosenthal is a Gooner I think.

Paul Ritter is sadly missed - he is great as Martin. The episode where he obsesses over a plastic bag stuck in a tree is wonderful. And Mark Heap as usual is brilliant as Jim.

I've only just binged watched all of that in the last few months, somehow never saw it when the show first came out. Very funny and was definitely a bit sad watching it knowing he'd recently died. "Pass me the pineappllllllllllllllllle!" probably my favourite moment.

Similarly binged it last year for the first time having never knew about it. Cracked me up. There were too many good moments, but Jim and his dog always got me.

Not watched the latest episode but The Expanse feels like it’s going out with a bit of a whimper. I’ve enjoyed it and would have thought it’s been good if there was another couple of seasons in the works, but as it is it feels a bit underwhelming.

[spoiler]Im sure they’ll get to the big picture stuff at some point, or maybe they won’t, but it’s just weird how the show has gotten smaller in its last two seasons. And I have no real interest in the dynamic between Naomi, Filip and Marco. Why is it taking up so much screen time?[/spoiler]
