Why would I be upset? 😆 I just asked because I personally think the cast is season 2's biggest strength. I'm far from a fan of the Coen brothers, the only film of theirs I really like is True Grit. Some others are decent.

Bit annoying that watchmen is done after 1 season. Not seen the final ep yet but hope it’s satisfying end.

If it’s done, I’m happy. It would be a very difficult TV show to follow up with a sequel just because of the way it is structured narratively. Season 2 would be a completely different show. A bit like Prison Break

I guess so, but unlike Prison Break I'd have had more faith in these guys getting it right, I also don't think the narrative is quite as limiting.

That's the reason there's no season 2 though. Lindelof doesn't want to do a season 2 and HBO decided not to do it without him, which I respect to be honest.

If Lindelof doesn't have a good idea for it then its better off leaving it. Maybe he'll think of something different and they can do it in five years time.

After watching the last episode I guess I’m on board with ending it. It feels like it was written to be a single season from the start.

Watching Morning Wars with Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carrell. It's excellent. Complex characters dealing with issues of sexual predation, power, narcissism, telling the truth in journalism (but at what cost). Got 2 episodes left of 10 so I hope they manage a decent ending.

I'd be down with WATCHMEN SEASON 2 if they made it about capitalism and ecological collapse, and got someone a tiny bit smarter than Lindelof about politics to write it. In the end the quality of the writing saved the show, the second last episode (the Doctor Manhattan one) was a triumph.

feels like lindelof boiled down everything he's learned as a showrunner and producer, and applied it brilliantly to watchmen, while filtering out most of the pitfalls of his previous endeavours

Sold on Succession. 5 episodes into season 1 and I'm loving the drama, scheming and dialogue. Not the typical show I'd imagine myself liking, but it's addictive. And as with Game of Thrones, the HBO stable comes up with more impressive opening credits.

SUCCESSION is fucking great, watched season one last week. Love the way the Waystar Royco stock price is the hard place that drives along the family tragedy / car crash / train wreck.

The season finale is off the hook Claude. Apparently the second season is even better so I'm gonna buckle up for that.

The music in the opening credits (and in the show generally) is due to Nicholas Britell, same terrific composer who did the MOONLIGHT soundtrack.

I only watched the first episode of Succession and found it really off putting. Are you supposed to start siding with the characters at any stage?

No, they're all pretty horrible and it gets worse. I guess I've got a bit of a soft spot for Kendall and Shiv if anyone.

Brian Cox is immense. He was fantastic in Deadwood as well.

He's great in it, yeah. Shades of his Bourne franchise character, very menacing and opaque.

Just started season 2 of Bosch. I've read the first 2 novels by Michael Connelly. The TV show is updated to the present day (novels start in the mid 90s I think) and cobbles together plots from several books apparently. It's a really solid cop drama with a look at the murky internal politics of the DA's office. There's plenty going on. Titus Welliver (great name) is excellent as Bosch.

dead heat between succession and watchmen for my favourite show of last year. and yes, season 2 of succession ups the ante fantastically

Agree on Season 2. I’ve had to pause the show so many times because it’s so hard-hitting. Incredible writing. The characters never cease to surprise me, although one couple gets a gold star for never ending naïveté. Oh the schemes. It’s so corporate.
