Yeah it's pretty good. Overall not as good as Breaking Bad but they did the whole "wife of a criminal" development levels better than Gilligan, and not only because Linney is a much better actress than Gunn.

"The Crown" is sitting in my queue. Watched the first 15 minutes. What are people's overall thoughts?

The Crown is great. Whatever your views on monarchies, I think you can't help but feel compassion and admiration for the Queen. I've just listened to a really enjoyable podcast of David Tennant interviewing Olivia Colman, who is playing the Queen in season 3, and she says the same thing.

It could have been an apology for the monarchy, or a piece of propaganda, but I found it to be a really interesting exploration of the cost of public service on personal life, and the consequences that flow from that, as well as one person's incredible journey from essentially childhood to becoming perhaps the most recognisable person in the western world.

The production and acting are first rate too. Can't wait for season 3.

I've not watched it but the company I work for supplied some of the fabric for the sets for that. £60,000 just for a few metres of embroidered fabric. I always assumed they just used cheap knockoffs for this stuff, who the hell would know the difference from behind the camera?

I've learnt to stop watching shows when I don't feel like watching them anymore, but I'm catching up with shows that have actually ended and aren't terrible. Just watched the final season of The Originals. That ending was terrible, what a fuck you to the viewers. For those who have watched, or don't care about spoilers for it, which is more likely, imagine watching Friends, only that
[spoiler]in the final season while Ross and Rachel have their usual relationship problems, Rachel disappears for half a season and when she gets back she dies before resolving them.

On a non-Friends note, Klaus kills himself to save his daughter, whose mother is already dead. Elijah offers to do it instead, but Klaus refuses. Then Elijah and Klaus end up killing themselves together, so Klaus actually dies for no reason? Yeah, what a great idea ffs.[/spoiler]

Lol. First 2 episodes of The Crown have landed well - as you folks said, high quality production all around. Missus and I are impressed. Hopefully, she’ll stop trying to make me watch reality shows and this can be our thing.

After how TVD turned to crap there was no way I was going to bother with the Originals.

I think The Originals was always the far superior show, but I can see people not wanting anything more to do with that universe after watching what TVD turned into. They've made a new show now that's a spinoff of The Originals. 😆

Luke Perry just died from the stroke he had a few days ago. 🙁

I'll miss him terribly on Riverdale.

Woah, that's incredibly sad. Only 52 years as well. I read that he had a stroke, but I never imagined that he wouldn't recover. Not that it should really matter, but it's a different feeling when it's an actor in something I actually watch. It may not say a lot, but he was by far the best actor in Riverdale, and very underused. Rest in peace.

I've always had a soft spot for him as an actor too. I didn't watch much 90210, most of it was before my time, but he was magnificent in Oz. He played the most likable character in Riverdale by far, and a lot of it seems to just have been bits of himself shining through.

He was the only one on 90210 that I felt could actually act. He's been on a bunch of stuff as guest parts here and there but really got new life with Riverdale. RIP Luke..

Looks like the Amazon show is gonna take place during the Second Age. Think it's a good choice personally not to base the show on some War of the Ring subplot like the rumoured young Aragorn story.

You've got all this money to spend, why not go all out. The second age is the perfect choice. The forging of the rings of power, the wars of Sauron and the Elves, the rise and fall of Numenor, the Last Alliance. Now we're cooking with gas Amazon. That's thousands of years in the story but it can still be done on TV because the characters don't age.

Probably a bit late but just finished the Adnan Syed Serial podcast...any fans here?

New show on HBO on it premiered yesterday apparently. Anyone think he did/didn't do it?

After listening to the podcast my feeling was he was the likely killer but it was not proven beyond a reasonable doubt in court. Haven't followed the case since then but will give this show a watch.

That was gripping... and influenced a raft of podcasts thereafter. The following seasons are not as good but interesting nonetheless. Season 3 just fills me with anger and is very hard to plough through becuase of that

I don't see any strong evidence that he did not do it. And that's what he needed to do. His potential alibi witness was not going to give enough evidence that he was away from the crime scenes the whole time.

Serial is pretty good, though the seasons following the first struggle to live up to the suspense and drama of the first, not that they try to. Shitown was pretty good.

And yeah, I think he’s guilty but had an incredibly bad lawyer so didn’t stand a chance either way.

He seemed guilty of something anyway, whether he did it or not I don't know but he seemed to be an accomplice at least.

As for serial I really didn't like the new series, only listened to a couple of episodes. Thoroughly enjoyed the Bowe Bergdahl series and I liked Shittown a lot.
