Totally understandable. There were definitely a couple of less coherent episodes in there where I wondered what the fuck they were doing myself, but they're bringing it all back together, and as it turns out, the story is a relatively elaborate social and political commentary that's also become weirdly aesthetically satisfying.
Riverdale is a very odd, and oddly conceived show. Quite hysterical and violent storylines, all centred on kids, dripping with references and anti-realist character logic, mediocre at times, but without a hint of irony.
There are plenty of elements in common with Buffy (which I eventually hated) and Veronica Mars (which I thought was amazing), but it retains its own distinct sensibility. It hasn't been a big TV year for me, but it's the only TV I've watched this year that has felt indispensable.
