Think I finally reached breaking point with Westworld. They aired episode 8, Kiksuya, which on it’s on was a beautiful piece of storytelling. However, I had to wonder how often the show runners are going to keep running these little narratives seen through the eyes of marginal characters in Westworld or hosts from other theme parks to develop the story. You feel a distance forming from what I assume are the main characters, the humans and hosts we met in season 1. Of these only one host’s character has been thoroughly developed this season, while the others have been caricatures, humans and hosts alike.
Layered on top of this is the challenge of discerning where each scene lies in space and time, and it gets quickly gets exhausting to take detours, even when there are eventual payoffs as Kiksuya brought for previous campaigns elsewhere. Anyone else watching? Thoughts?
