The part about power isn't true. Theo's header was harder. If Peschisolido's attempt had the same power on it Seaman wouldn't have saved it.

But yeah. Seaman's save was definitely better. Had he just got a hand on it to merely keep it out for Peschisolido to bundle in on the second attempt (which he was in a good position to do so) it would have been impressive enough but it's the fact he managed to scoop it out AND away to deny Peschisolido that opportunity that makes it so special.

The ball was behind Seaman when he saved that header. That's what makes it so remarkable.

Yeah, went mental when it happened. Was surprised he didn't immediately appeal for a non-existent foul or offside after the goal, does that every single time he concedes a goal against any team. Fucking hate his guts, remember how he got Koscielny booked after he scored our second at their shithole a few years ago by throwing himself on the ball and then claiming a foul, utter scum that guy.

Also this must be the first time a goal line ref has made a meaningful and correct decision ever. Fair play to him for spotting the ball behind the line.

Goals certainly weren't on Szczesny though (breakaway he originally stopped, PK, curler and then a back door cross)

To get this thread back on topic though, I'm still buzzing over how good Cech was yesterday. He's had two world class games for us in the span of two months now, against Bayern and Liverpool.

Wenger deserves some credit here too. At the start of last season the goalkeeper and the fullbacks were our three weakest points, and we've upgraded all three with genuine class since then. Fair dos to him for recognising our flaws, even if he should have done something much sooner.

The sad thing is we're a top class CM + striker from being a real force, problem is Wenger always leaves us a bit short in certain areas.

Cech has been a terrific signing, feel so much more confident having him at the back. The club did a good job at making sure we got him, shows how highly he was regarded at Chelsea that they let him join us.

The "curler" was horrible positioning to be fair. He also came for a cross and completely missed it. Anyway, point is we've upgraded the position massively in the last 12 months.

I think there were plenty of instances in the past where, even if you couldn't blame Szczesny outright for conceding, he didn't really do much to keep the ball out either, and the same was true of his Roma performance yesterday. Being able to consistently do more than what's expected is the hallmark of a quality keeper for me. That's what you need in a top team. The defenders draw confidence from it. When Lewandowski went through yesterday I felt that Cech still had a pretty good chance to save the shot. When someone got through on Szczesny in the past I used to worry that he'd get sent off and screw us over.

He's got a great rapport with Per, between them they anchor the back four in experience and a sound knowledge of how to defend.
Petr did come to us from one of the meanest defences in the PL(thanks José 🙂) I imagine he's got some strong opinions to share with the guys who line out in front of him.

Still can't believe Chelsea let us have him. Certainly the best in the league this season.

Hold up! You won't hear this from me again. Massive credit to Wenger for
1) weakening an opponent by taking a dressing room leader from their
2) rejuvenating this guy's career and putting back as arguably the best goalie in league, and
3) being bold enough to replace a keeper who recorded several shutouts and would eventually make the Balon d'or long list.
(Swigs beer and reverts to moody character).
