i think we're better off spending £35m on reus, playing him at LW, playing alexis at RW, and using theo/giroud up front.

alexis-ozil-reus
----- walcott---

could be terrifying. 2 pure wingers, the best 10 on the planet, and a guy with brilliant pace leading the line. obviously we'd lose giroud's presence on set pieces, and theo isnt going to jump against two oafish centerbacks and win a lot of headers. but we keep the ball on the deck anyway

If Dortmund won't let go of a carthorse like Aubameyang, what makes people think that a proper world class player like Reus is available for a few million more?

i thought he had a release clause and i thought it was £35m. maybe i was wrong

Oh right, the release clause. Yeah, it was widely reported to be around £35 million, but I think Reus signed a new deal with Dortmund a few months ago unfortunately. It's gone now.

removed release clause. it was a very clear show of commitment from the boy, re-signing and removing the clause when he held all the cards. the anti-Delph.
i hold little hope for a top tier replacement coming in. if we really want a top forward, then we might just have to shell out for 2 years of Ibra. the market does not favour us.
even if you look at Real: they could drop Benzema from the starting line-up, but they don't even have an alternative number 9, so they'd likely have to keep him. Llorente doesn't count even if they get him. he's not someone you'd send out against Barca or Bayern in a big game

You mean he has a lack of ambition?

He's from the Dortmund academy, and he was born in Dortmund. It's perfectly reasonable, and even admirable, if he wants to stay there.

you keep hearing rumours about Wilshere wanting to sit down to commit his future to Arsenal despite interest from City and others. would you call that a lack of ambition from Wilshere? clearly, City are better positioned to win trophies for the foreseeable future.

And how does that relate to Delph who was at relegation strugglers Villa and moved to City?

To be fair, Delph could have left Villa for free this summer and presumably earned himself a better contract than what he eventually did. His signing the contract with the release clause, at least, helped fetch 8 Million pounds for Villa.

City have won 2 league titles in past 5 years and are probably better positioned than us to keep winning. several of our players have in recent years left for greener pastures (Toure, Nasri, Adebayor, Clichy). the Borussia Dortmund you say shows lack of ambition has won leagues in recent years - certainly more recently than we have

Fuck off, Muzzi just commented on an article claiming that we had a bid rejected. So that really is the "signing of the season" then.

it seems more realistic than most signings we have been talking about. i'll take it. anything that keeps guys like Welbeck and Sanogo out of the starting striker spot

Doesnt make sense to me. £30m for him? No fucking way.

And he'll fuck off to the ACON every two years.

It doesn't make sense no matter what we pay for him. It's a pointless signing. He's quick and that's it. He is poor on the ball, can't really beat a man one on one, his passing game is shit and his finishing is average. Walcott does everything he does, only ten times better.

assuming that Benzema, Cavani, Ibra and Lewandowski are off-limits,
do you guys prefer

  • Obama
  • Higuain
  • Dzeko
  • do nothing

Out of the 3 on offer probably Aubama, but I'd rather sign a top class winger instead and use Theo and Welbz exclusively as forwards.

I'd go with that as well.
