Arsenal are on alert after Julian Draxler claimed he wants a move to the Premier League, according to Sky Sports Germany.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been a keen admirer of the Schalke youngster for a long time, who could be available for £30million.

he's had a pretty rough 18 months but the talent is there, and he can play on the left. could get him for a lowish price.

wenger almost bought him once so i can see him being interested again

Has he been tried at center forward ever?

He has played left or behind the striker whenever I have seen him. He is a top talent, one worth investing in if the price is right.

For a reasonable fee Draxler is worth looking at again. At least we can rest assured Wenger wont overpay for him anyway.

maybe half of that reported 30m fee.. otherwise...

Assuming all our other shopping is done, I'd even take him at £25m

Yeah I agree. I wouldn't mind signing him but not as our marquee signing of the summer.

I would love to take a punt on Draxler for anything below £25 million, assuming that we make 2 or 3 similar signings.

This one's better:

A world class save from our new Number 1 in there as well. 🙂

Not many clips for a season's highlights. But there's a lot of Van Persie there and I imagine he's exactly the type of player Wenger would love to sign. 'Massive physical potential' etc.

What ya thinking tricks?

Little bit?

----------Giroud
Draxler--Ozil--Sanchez
-----Wilshere-Ramsey
Nacho-Kos-Merte-Bellerin
-----------Cech

I'm thinking Draxler comes in as a very good option out wide straight away and Wenger turns him into a world class centre forward within two seasons.

Another from earlier in the season at Stamford Bridge:

Can you imagine what this guy will be like when his injuries clear up and he matures physically? Completely unplayable.

I'd still pay 30 for him. Talent is talent.

Get him in Arsene.

Get in guys! That's what i was talking about in Wishlist a few days before he was linked. We may not be looking for a starting WF right now, but a talented kid for AW to mould would be a perfect back up and replacement for failed Poldi, Joel and Ryo.

No need to turn him into a centreforward, Ricks. Just develop him into the best left winger in the game instead.

Imagine Draxler and Cech being sewn up in June. What a start to the summer window.

We've played Ramsey and Welbeck on the wing for most of this season. I'd say it's critical that we sort out that position.

Also, signing a leftsided player would mean that we could move Alexis to the right again where he plays better.

Problem is, Sanchez seems to quite like playing on the left, recently referring to moving to that side as a "breakthrough" in his football development. Not sure he's going to be altogether pleased if he's shunted out to the right and asked to make runs all game. He likes this playmaker role he has, where he can drop deep and cut inside from the left.

He might like it, but it's seriously clogging up our game. There's no way Wenger will keep playing him like that next season, signings or no signings. I've almost gone bald from tearing my hair out over every attacking move that has broken down because of his erratic passing. I'd rather sell Alexis again than see him drop deep to pick up the ball for an entire season.

He has also said that he prefers to play on the left over any other position in the forward line.

I just think there's a monster centre forward there waiting to come out. He has everything you could wish for in the role physically, technically and in terms of his awareness and intelligence. He'd need to learn to play there; how to move in the box and play with his back to goal but he's a very clever footballer so I don't doubt it'd work. I just think a player like him; with such a good first touch and such a quick brain, as well as his ambidexterity, has to play in the middle.

But I'd take him out wide happily if that's where Wenger feels he's best deployed long term. Super talent.

He's always said he sees himself as a Number 10, but he doesn't understand why everyone always picks him wide left! He's banged on quite a lot about it over the years actually. Definitely fancies himself in the middle, not sure how he'd feel about being the main man upfront and all that entails though.

Edit - whoops, didn't see Klaus' post at the bottom of the last page. You obviously meant Sanchez!

That was due to Ox getting injured and Walcott not being ready/being in contract dispute.

One thing I do like about Draxler is when he is on form he does play with some swag. Doesn't matter who the opposition is but he has got that bravery and not afraid of the opponent. Comes across as the type of personality who will show up in big games. Kind of like how Rooney was when he was young. Under £30m I wouldn't be against signing him.

Only problem with this rumour is I have doubts about how reliable Sky Sports Germany are and I know for sure the Metro aren't!

Spot on, Alexis can't play on the left for us next season. The problem with moving him to the right is that Wilshere likes that position. If we buy a LW we should make Alexis into a center forward IMO, his movement in behind is really good and he's a predator 25 yards and in from goal.

Not sure how I feel about Draxler right now because I really think we have a window to win the PL next year that might be there the year after. But if we can't find a center forward (and let's be honest, none of Cavani/Benzema/Morata are moving this summer), then signing a natural left sided player and moving Alexis up front might be the next best thing. I just wish it were somebody in the prime of his career like Reus.

Would both Walcott and Welbeck be here next season if this happened? Alexis/Giroud/Wilshere/Chamberlain/Draxler/Welbeck/Walcott is a very crowded group for three positions.

Our squad is going to be enormous if we keep all of Flamini, Arteta, Rosicky, Gnabry, Welbeck, and Walcott and add another two signings. We need to trim the fat a bit.

There's almost nothing droolworthy in that vid...

Apart from his two runs through the middle of their midfield right? One that almost resulted in a goal and the other where he got an assist?

Or his one-two at about 4 min 20 sec?

He didn't get an assist. Stormtrooper Terry did.

Well, if that was Alexis "droolworthy" wouldn't cut it...

That's as good as any performance you'll see at Stamford Bridge, exquisite technical ability and manipulation of the ball. If only he was a bit faster, there'd be none stopping him, amazing talent.

We have no player who could pull off a performance like that, maybe Mesut, but he's not as good at running with the ball. Alexis would ruin most of those moves, and Ox is a level or two below Draxler technically.

I agree.

with the right coaching, Raheem will be scary. his close control at speed is on point. he just needs better shooting ability

so long as it's a technical thing & not a composure thing like Gervinho.
