6 years ago we made 30-40% less money.
Fact check: No we didn't, revenue's 'only' grown by approximately 20% since 2009. The rise in transfer fees is ridiculous, don't be afraid to say it.
As a crude comparison, in 2010 the most expensive transfer was Villa to Barcelona for 40m euros. If Higuain or whomever is being touted for 60-80m that's still a ridiculous jump, bearing in mind wages have also escalated significantly
Actually, no you're wrong anyway you cut it. Revenue grew from 313 to 344m pounds from 2009 to 2015 which is about 10%. However, Arsenal are a weird club, and you should not look at the topline because it includes lumpy revenues from the investment business. If you look at just the football business, that revenue went from 225 to 329m pounds, which is a 45% jump in revenues over that time. So my 30-40% was underestimated.
Our new EPL contract situation should further boost that by maybe an additional 10%. So transfer fees are definitely staying in line with club revenue growth.
