He's not that quick anymore, it's his movement off the ball that puts him apart, as well as running behind defences and around the box.

It's not just rubbish defences he's mudering in that video either, Juve, Lazio, Inter, Fiorentina etc. are all getting murdered one way or another. I don't see much to worry about in the PL, the quality of defending is rather poor imo.

Just my opinion based on whatever i have read on the internet/news. IMO once the news of negotiations broke out and Girouds agent commented on it, it has to end quickly. Either we drop interest or we reach an agreement.

Sounds like a typical Wenger yes man, you have the opportunity to sign a striker like Higuaín, but you would rather talk about writing a blank cheque for midfielder Jorginho despite having just bought Xhaka.

😆 Least credible ITK sentence of all time? I'd imagine that the "no talking" policy is to avoid seeing another club barge in and swoop up the player. Being all: "Ugh, somebody talked, let's just cancel the whole thing and bet on Sanogo" kinda defeats the purpose. If anything it should have sped up negotiations.

While i do want us to get jiggy with da Higgy, i also have certain fears over this transfer.

He has a body type which looks like it may start gaining some pounds as he gets older. He's almost 29.
If he loses the physical edge, he wont survive in a physical league such as PL
Can he adapt culturally so late in his career?
He is a known serial bottler on big occasions, imagine things dont go well for him here ... does he have the mentality to survive?

Given his status, selling club and his scoring record, £50m is a fair price for him in todays market. More than that and i'd start looking at younger guys with potential for some improvement.

Arshavin wasn't quite Cristiano Ronaldo either physically, but he managed to produce the goods for us for a couple of seasons. Higuain probably wouldn't last 4 years, but getting a year or two out of him is definitely better than nothing at this stage.

That's true. The peak on this team is now anyway. Ideally we need to get 2-3 quality players in now and push for the title.

It was mentioned earlier, but Higuain doesn't rely on physical attributes. He's capable of winning a sprint duel or make runs in behind a defence but it's not what his game is limited to. What made him excel last season was how he kept finding time and room for himself everywhere on the pitch. It didn't really matter if he was up against a packed defence on his own or had his back turned towards goal while being marked by two centrebacks. He'd just lift the ball into the top corner, or pull off an outrageous bicycleta on a crappy waste-high pass from a teammate. His movement's world class.

It's something he was lacking previously in my opinion. I used to watch him at Real where he got by thanks to an extraordinary finish, but others had to create the space for him.

Never liked him. He bottles on big occasions too often...

That said he's the only established player out there that is close to the level we need at the striker position that is actually available. Plus this dude is always hungry for goals.

Suarez, Benzema, Aguero, Higuaín and Lewandowski are the top 5 strikers in the world right now IMO.

But they're bottlers (Lewandowski did nothing at Euros, and Higuain is always costing Argentina), cannibals (Suarez has tried to eat a man whole), criminal aides (Benzema) and infirm (Aguero). Wouldn't want any of that lot.
