Starting "CM" next season - Ramsey vs Cazorla?

Would like to note that's also a game where Flamini was playing, albeit playing well, Wilshere was lost on the left wing and Nacho had a complete mare.

One goal came from a corner. One goal was given away by Flamini because he pulled a Gerrard and couldn't receive a simple pass. Two goals happened in added time, at which point we were down to 10 men. I really don't see how the outcome in that match was a result of playing Ramsey and Özil at the same time.

Which was about the only big-game we got beaten in comprehensively with Ramsey starting at CM among many others which we got beaten in comprehensively which he didn't.

That suggests to me that the fault lies elsewhere.

We had a ridiculous run of games then. Also, Ramsey will benefit hugely playing next a midfielder like Coquelin with his positional discipline.

I remember that vividly because he was dead awful out there. And he was dead awful out there in that same position against West Brom prior to that match too.

I'm glad Ozil playing on the left was only a temporary move to ease him back into the team. Still had to endure him playing therefore 2 months though

I don't think it was a temporary move. Circumstances made it appear so in my opinion. Wenger seemed desperate for the Wilshere and Ramsey partnership ahead of the defensive midfielder to work.

I agree with Rohit. I think it was just a failure of the system that moved him back to the centre. Wenger is desperate to squeeze all of Ozil, Ramsey, Wilshere and Sanchez into the team together and thats kind of worrying. Whether is Ramsey or Wilshere wide, Sanchez up front or a Ramsey/Wilshere/Ozil midfield none of those options work great for us.

I suppose, I think Wenger definitely wants a more traditional attacking midfielder in one of the wide positions - it's been Ozil and Ramsey this season but I think Wilshere's the most natural fit for the role.

He is in my opinion too. Wenger had Pires there and he has tried Cazorla there even when he started off really well behind the striker. I also think Wilshere, if he stays fit for a whole season, will be excellent in that role if we play with two mobile and pacy forwards.

I dont like Wilshere's off the ball movement enough when he's higher up the pitch. And that was basically Pires' main quality. I initially thought Ozil was perfect for the role because he takes up great positions, but second half of this season he really showed off his quality with added flicks and tricks through the middle. If all three have to play, I think Wenger is more likely to push Ramsey wide. Hes the most adaptable, he'd have a good game at LB.

Wilshere and Ramsey can both do a job on the flank, but let's not pretend that we can't do, much, much better for that position. IMO we absolutely need another world class player in our front line. If we manage to sign Benzema or Cavani, then by all means play Wilshere wide. However, if we can't find a striker like that, then Wilshere out wide will IMO not be good enough for us to mount a serious title challenge.

IMO Wilshere should be an option for central midfield. If he can't get in the team there, then he should be back up.

I don't like Wilshere's off the ball movement even when deeper for England. We tend to slag off his English midfield partners for not passing to him but I do think he doesn't do enough off the ball himself.

Wilshere is not the complete player but the inadequacies in his game can be ironed out to an extent with a prolonged period in the team, in a position without injuries.

I would love to see that happen before brushing off a current limitation in his game as a perpetual weakness. I know you aren't doing that.

Depends what we're going for, if we want off ball movement and a goal threat then Walcott is our best option

And for some reason Wenger chooses to put Ramsey wide to accommodate Cazorla. 😆

Probably because Cazorla out performed Ramsey in that position last season.
Ramsey will surely play his way back into the centre but he'll have to excel to do so, or alternatively Cazorla will have to suffer a drop in form.
