Yeah, Tone - if you consider my opinion to be "let's wait and see who plays better", then sure, I haven't changed my opinion 😆
But I also said "ideally it would be Ramsey". Nothing ideal about what happened since.

I think Qwiss is right that this is a bit ott, though. One always has to keep in mind what playing next to Flamini must be like :gape:

Ramsey is a good player, but he leaves us vulnerable in midfield. Opposition teams are able to bypass our midfield line quite easily, when he's out on one of his free roaming runs. Flamini is nowhere near good enough to cover the space left behind, so he drops down and plays 10-15 yards in front of our back four. It's pretty fucking bad tbh, but our midfield has had problems for a long time now. It's not as if Coquelin and Cazorla were brilliant together...

Other than his first 2 games in CM where he was truly outstanding and then the good game he had against Bournemouth, Ramsey has been pretty average to downright poor in some games. But I will go with the notion that had it been Cazorla being paired with Flamini we would suffer even more. That is probably the most incompatible pairing we can imagine even if the sample size is small.

Can't really say who we will miss more because everybody had a different function in the team. The only thing this period shown is that Coquelin is extremely important to us and Wenger is retarded not buying a capable sub for him in the summer.

I haven't seen it mentioned a whole lot but the bloke was brilliant today. He ran the entire midfield alone basically once Coquelin was subbed off. He shows so much gusto when he plays.

Kante was unreal, especially in the first half, but I thought Coquelin and Ramsey had a strong game as a pairing. Two players showing for the ball, two players looking to actually win the ball back. Ramsey was also very disciplined today and picked his spots well when to push forward.

I agree, not the most creative midfield but for once we didn't look porous through the middle. I don't mind if the creativity from central midfield is slightly lacking. We need to have forwards who should do the job.

This pairing needs to be given time to play together and we will definitely look better defensively.

Yeah, I mean Leicester didn't create anything through the middle, if I remember correctly. Back four had proper protection, Ramsey and Coquelin won the ball in the middle of the park many, many times to get us in transition, and passing wise the two of them mostly transitioned the ball well from defense into our attacking 4.

Yeah, midfield was fine today. Though we did play almost half the match against 10 men.

It's annoying that all our chances fall to Ramsey though.

Ramsey needs to go back to basics with his shooting. He's nowhere near good enough at it to shoot while rotating the hell out of his hips and gazing into the middle distance.

His shooting is abysmal, and it always is except for that purple patch in that half a season. It was extremely annoying at that point of time all the chances fell to him and a out-of-form Alexis who kept fluffing their lines.

That said, Ramsey had a superb 65 minutes for me today, especially when we were going toe to toe against them till they went down to 10 man. After that, the game was hardly pivotal at midfield and he just don't seem to move the ball quick enough for my liking. Still had a very good game though.

Coquelin makes such a difference, there were several occasions where he slowed down potential breaks to the point where he allowed all out men to get back. If it were Flamini he's have just dropped off and given then the space to attack.

The consequence is guys like Aaron and Hector going up the pitch isn't such a big deal.

Ramsey was decent today. Just needs more composure in the box but that should come.

Agreed and that made such a big difference.
TBF he and Flamini did the same in the first half of the last game.
I also thought Kante was unbelievable.
