I like him as well, he's not instant starter material but I'm pretty sure Wenger's happy with his central midfield starting players (as am I, just about). I don't think we need a big money signing like Vidal or Pogba in midfield to challenge for the title and would rather concentrate our efforts elsewhere.

The main concern for midfield is the depth for the two central midfield positions that is poor and needs to be addressed. Which Ki should be able to do while adding something different - he'll be a good Arteta replacement.

i think the way we need to approach this summer, and every summer after it, is to look at our first team squad, figure out where the waste is, and upgrade it to the best of our ability. we can essentially replace both arteta and flamini with ki. those two were fringe players this season, for varying reasons, and neither has any upside left at all. if you can replace two players with one, and that one is better than both players you replaced, and you did it for a good price, that is smart squad construction.

we should be trying to sign the likes of vidal and pogba but they'd come in to be automatic starters. you still need a big squad and quality depth. ki seems like he'd be a quality depth player.

He's been an un-SUNG hero for Swansea

IIRC we were linked to Ki & Wanyama when they were still with Celtic b4 the London Games?
This was about the same time Cabaye went to PSG?

Tackling's not a strength but his role is not as ball winner.
He's more an Arteta type than Schneiderlin or Cabaye, but by the same token plays a lone CMD role for Swansea alongside Shelvey.

IMO he'd be a starter in most games when AW wants to play a high D line.
