Ramsey, Xhaka, Coquelin, Elneny. Chuck in Wilshere and Cazorla, and it's easy to imagine that Wenger is satisfied with cm. Even if we aren't.

Because we spent £35 million on one last summer. That's where it stops for Wenger. It doesn't matter how underwhelming Xhaka looked or how bad our other options are. We have spent the money. We're not going to do it again just because the player wasn't good enough. It's the same reason we aren't linked to central defenders right now. Our defence is held together by a 32 year old Koscielny with two badly damaged achilles tendons, but we went out and bought our centrebacks last year and now we're going to use them regardless of their level.

Fabinho's definitely a Jorge Mendes client. 100%. It is bizarre that he hasn't moved yet. Maybe I've misjudged him but I thought he was the best centre midfielder I saw in the knockouts of the Champions League last season - I'm surprised the really big boys aren't knocking on his door.

I struggle to believe that Wenger, one, doesn't rate him and, two, that he doesn't view his £42m release clause as very good value in this market. Either it's a Mendes/wage related problem or, as you say, he doesn't feel the need to spend a significant amount on an area where he has Xhaka and Ramsey.

Maybe he's good enough that Mendes has told clubs that aren't called Real or Barca not to bother him. For any transfer to be worth Mendes' time, the buying club will need to offer an astronomical wage to make up for the low transfer fee. It's not as simple as activating the clause. Mendes and Fabinho can wait it out for the best offer that makes them both wealthy

More like Wenger doesn't want to ask Monaco for every player they have. Wenger's preferences at Monaco are clearly Mbappe and then Lemar.

Yep, can't help thinking that could be a factor too. Hopefully that means we might make a move for him later in the window depending on how the chips fall for the other two.

I think he is not good enough for us currently but I hope we insert a buy back clause. That's dirt cheap by the way.

Indeed. We signed Cech for 10m and Ospina for 3m

Not sure what people expect from our 3rd choice keeper who we've had to loan out the last couple of years because no one wanted to buy him.

12m is a good price. We might have gotten more but it's worth it just to get the deal moving.

Didn't realise he only left 1 year. If that is true, then it is pretty fair.

With regards to his level though, he is easily worth 20m if Pickford is worth 30m.

or just cheap dirt. this guy's been on loan for last few seasons because we do not want or need him. 12m pounds - all sides should be thrilled.

He's been number 1 for Roma and done pretty well, especially last season. He's still only 27 too. Loads of years left for a keeper. £12m is definitely poor business by us.
