Our squad is absolutely massive with loads of mid range talent and not enough elite end players. We have to be looking to move on Wilshere, Walcott, debuchy, jenkinson for sure just in the basis of squad size and number of games. I'd add in Ox leaving if he is giving us hassle over his contract as he only had a few shows at wing back that made him look decent enough to press on.

We also need to work out what is going on with coq, elneny, as one of them is not going to be getting much game time next season.

I hope, though I don't expect, that we can sort out our squad balance away from droves of good squad players in the future and focus on serious talent.

Wenger will probably use all those squad players in the Europa. He will challenge them to perform there if they want to get into the first team.

At this point I think it’s pretty clear he won’t be signing a new contract. Realistically we won’t be signing a superstar to replace him if we sell this summer. Lemar looks like the guy we’ve identified and I doubt we’ll sign another attacking player if we get him. As such I’ve listed my order of preferences for his departure:

Keep him for a year and let him run down his contract.
Sell abroad to PSG, Bayern, Juve etc.
Sell to City
Sell to Chelsea
Sell to United (this cannot happen)

I feel it’ll end up being number 3 which is in the middle of all possible outcomes so as annoying as it is I reckon I could live with it. I’ve come to accept what this club is. Hopefully we’ll have enough to sneak into 4th with the squad we have minus Sanchez plus Lemar.

Doesn't seem to be does there? Don't think we have to sell him at all, any indication that we do is more lies from the pushovers at Arsenal.

Now, if we get 100m pounds for Sanchez and Theo I think I could live with it, as long as we immediately make a world record signing of one of the world's best players. All there is to it really.

It's imperative we don't sell him. It makes us look like shit and will demoralise the squad. Just let him walk on a free next year when his body will almost be broken anyway, who cares. It's not like we will get comparable quality for the fee he would command now.

TBH selling to City isn't really much different to selling to United or Chelsea. Its not a middle ground option at all.

Nope, it just feels slightly better because we hate them less. But it's selling to a direct rival all the same.

I agree that selling would be a big mistake. Whatever fee we get. Although it would be easier to swallow if we did get the £80m or £90m that has been mentioned by some journalists. Still have the problem of finding someone that could come close to producing what Sanchez does. I don't see that player around anywhere, that's also available to us.

That's the crux of it for me too. I just can't see us being able to come close to replacing Alexis with anyone who's realistically available (to us). Makes far more sense to hang on to him and try to get back into CL. Then look to replace for the following season.

Dan Crowley has officially joined Willem II. Never thought he'd make it here myself but he does have some outstanding attributes. Hope he can do well for himself.

This is the issue. Especially having fallen out of the CL. Its not like the squad is full of glaring weaknesses elsewhere that the money could help fix. In most areas you'd need a proper world class player to improve us so why lose our best player to provide marginal improvement elsewhere?

12m x 2 and then 20m for Chambers apparently, though the Guardian are reporting that it's 10m for Szczesny.

Sounds about right though. Those 3 alone have pretty much funded Lacazette. Then you still have Perez to go as well as talk of Giroud and Walcott among others going out the door Add the 150m we supposedly had to spend in the first place and suddenly you still have another 200m odd to spend, which completely debunks the theory that we need to cash in on Sanchez so that we can replace him.

I reckon we might see a couple of big money signings late in the window from us.

That would be great business. Also ca 155k a week in wages ages saved as well.

Given all the talk of change, surely we have to end up with a decent net spend this summer?

The biggest no-brainer at the moment is Fabinho. Bid the release clause and try to convince him to come here. Who cares if he's represented by Mendes (I don't even know if that's true)? We can't limit ourselves as a club to not dealing with him. He represents like half of all the top players in Europe.
