Yeah Chambers should definitely bring in more than 14m. Ticks all the boxes - English, won a couple of caps, young, plays two or more positions and none of then really well, looks like he should be in some British boyband. Feed that CV to Howe or the guys in charge at Palace or Brighton and we should be looking at a new record sale

I'd hang onto Chambers. He's a decent enough back up. We need a bit of depth in the squad and keeping him would mean we don't need to spend time on hunting for someone to fill that role and he's on reasonably low wages. Get rid of the high earners like Mustafi, Monreal, Kolasinac, etc from our defence first.

Isn't he exactly the sort of player we've kept on the books for far too long?

He's not good enough at centreback; Emery saw fit to loan him out and play Mustafi ahead of him there. As did Wenger before that. He's far too slow to play right back and not good enough technically to cut it midfield.

So what's he really good for?

He's also had two new contracts in the past 12 months, so he most likely is on good money. We now need to reap the rewards of, for once, protecting the value he has and sell, as Jones says; to a Bournemouth who'll pay good money for him.

Another point is if he's in the squad as a utility man he takes minutes from the talented youngsters we have. Ballard or Mavropanos at the back, Maitland-Niles at right back, Willock in midfield etc., and he'll take home far bigger wages to do it too.

Well, we're the beneficiaries; saves a load of time trying to see what's going on. The transfer window is the perfect time to have it easy! Hopefully, you'll get to break some big players joining Arsenal through the summer on HomeSteak News. 😆

Nah we dont have the luxury to keep him as backup. The fee he'll generate can be put into a starter if we don't shit the bed again in the market. He's not good enough to play midfield and badly lacks aggression for centre back too, even if he's not the worst player he shouldn't have a role here

Not sure about reasonably low wages either. He extended his contract like two or three times in the last 18 months and came initially for 16m from Southampton ie not on academy wages either. We will 300% regret it if we don't sell him now while theres some interest in the market

There's something that stinks about our brand that leads clubs to systematically undervalue our players. This guy was named Fulham player of the year and has about 2 England national team caps. Yet he's valued at 14m pounds. Liverpool, on the other hand, can release no name youth players for similar or higher prices. We need to drastically change the narrative. We should not accept anything below 20m pounds for the guy.

It might actually be worth holding onto him to signal to the market that we aren't selling bargain basement prices for decent players anymore. Similar to the signal we sent to Ramsey that we aren't letting players negotiate past a certain point anymore.

I would hold onto him, mostly as a matter of principle, if we can't get £22m+ for him.

It takes a lot to transform a brand. We will need to own the story a lot more. Both on the field and off. Think how long it took to shake the story of soft Arsenal who don't like it up them. Even long after the age of Tony Pulis and rough n tumble football, we retained it

Did we overpay a lot for this guy? If we paid £16m and his development hasn't been considerably different than what you'd expect, we definitely shouldn't lose money from selling him some years later.

£14m feels about right if he head overseas. No one in La Liga or Serie A is going to pay for him being British, which means we’ll lose out _£5-8m compared to selling him to a Premier League team.

Either that, or that by February he'd already played as many games as he played last year. Read that he played 50 games which is double what he played in 2017.

We rejected 24m bid from Palace for Chambers just a few windows ago, no way we are selling him for 14m.

If Liverpool sold Solanke for 20m Chambers is easily worth 30m.

Chambers is easily a £25 million player, or a bargaining chip at worst to swap for Ryan Fraser. Anything less and we've fucked up massively in the market again.

It kinda feels like we're a business looking to shut shop. Backroom staff been leaving, performances declining, players being let go on the cheap. ...it's like a clearance sale before a store closes for good.

We're downsizing to become a midtable club. Then we can really enjoy finals in Europa League and the league cup.
